Cammie & Charlie’s love story officially began 4 years ago.

But they’ve known each other for a lifetime. It all started when Cammie befriended two girls, Grace and Abby Glaubit, through 8U Softball All Stars in 2007. Grace, Abby, and Charlie are triplets!

The three girls and their families became close - sleeping over on weekends, spending vacations and holidays together, caravanning to endless softball tournaments, playing manhunt at each other's houses while their parents listened to music on the deck, fishing in the creek behind the Glaubit’s house, and riding bikes around the neighborhood (fun fact: Cammie learned how to ride a bike at Charlie’s house). From ages 8-12, Cammie was just a friend of his sisters, and Charlie was just the brother of her friends. Then life got crazy during the teenage years, and Charlie and Cammie didn’t see each other for a while. Before they knew it, Charlie and Cammie graduated from their high schools, headed to Senior Beach Week in Duck, NC, with their friends, and ended up staying down the street from each other. Their friend groups got together almost every night, which led to Charlie and Cammie reuniting. Neither of them admitted it then, but there was an immediate spark this time! Their reunion was short lived as at the end of the week, Charlie headed off to the US Merchant Marine Academy in New York while Cammie headed to Virginia Tech. Cammie and Charlie coincidentally ran into each other a few times during college (their freshman year she quite literally ran into him at Center Street in Blacksburg during a VT football tailgate). Every time they did, there was a lot of playful flirting but never anything more. In February 2021, when Charlie had transferred schools and moved back to Richmond and Cammie was a senior at Virginia Tech, Charlie and his friend Conner Strong were talking about getting the high school Senior Beach Week group back together since most were about to graduate from college. Charlie immediately thought of Cammie. Nobody can remember what specifically was said, but it was enough for Cammie to wake up on Valentine’s Day to a text from Conner saying that Charlie was interested. When Cammie came back to Richmond for Easter, Charlie invited her to a bonfire at Conner’s house. It was the first time they’d spent time together knowing that they were both interested, and they’ve been together ever since. After graduating from Virginia Tech, Cammie spent the first six months of their relationship working and living at home in Richmond before moving to Arlington. Charlie also lived at home and was working towards his Mechanical Engineering degree at VCU with the goal of becoming a USMC Officer upon graduation. Over the next few years, Charlie visited Cammie in Arlington, Virginia, and Cammie came home to Richmond frequently to see Charlie. They loved to go to bars and breweries together, hit the gym together, go on dinner dates, watch movies, and go on road trips to visit their friends out of state. They went on vacations together to Hawaii, the North Carolina beaches, the Florida Keys, and even made a spur-of-the-moment trip to Red Rocks in Denver to see the Turnpike Troubadours. Cammie also supported Charlie throughout his journey to becoming a USMC Officer, which included completing a 10-week Officer Candidate School during summer 2022, commissioning as an officer in September 2023, going to The Basic School in October 2023, and getting his first duty station orders to Camp Lejeune, NC, in June 2024. Once Cammie’s lease in Arlington ended in September 2024, she made the big decision to take a job in the Onslow County Human Resources Department and move to North Carolina to be with Charlie. Two weeks after moving, they went out for what Cammie thought was a routine dinner date. Afterwards, when they were heading to the store to buy a bottle of wine but Charlie drove past the store and headed toward the beach instead, she knew something was up. Her instincts were proven true when Charlie got down on one knee and proposed to her on North Topsail Beach on October 12, 2024. If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading! We are so excited to celebrate our love with you all soon. September 27th can’t come fast enough!!
