When Camille lived in San Diego, La Jolla was her weekend escape. For an adventurous outing, she recommends hiking at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, which offers stunning ocean views on a moderate roundtrip trail. After your hike, explore the charming seaside town and check out La Jolla Cove. Be sure to visit its nearby restaurants and boutique shops.
Mackey has a soft spot for Downtown San Diego. It's where he attended Law School and also where he and Camille moved into their very first apartment (IYKYK). Mackey's top Downtown favorites include: strolling around Seaport Village, savoring Italian food in Little Italy, enjoying a beer at one of the oceanfront bars near Waterfront Park, catching a Padres Game at Petco Park, and, most of all, indulging in the spicy Firebird chicken sandwich at The Crack Shack.
San Diego boasts an impressive restaurant scene. For some of the best Mexican food in the city, don't miss: The Taco Stand (the al pastor tacos are a hit), Lucha Libre, Casa de Bandini at The Forum. Here are some of Mac & Camille's other faves from their time living in San Diego: - Italian: Cesarina, Buon Appetito, Civico 1845, Buona Forchetta - Asian: Underbelly Ramen, Din Tai Fung, Banh Thai, Plumeria Vegetarian - American Cuisine: Cardiff Seaside Market (some of the best breakfast burritos in a coastal neighborhood), The Crack Shack, Fig Tree Cafe, Board & Brew sandwiches - Daytime Bars and Breweries: Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens (Escondido), Nolita Hall, Ketch Grill & Taps, 264 Fresco, Second Nature
If you can't already tell, Maclean and Camille love a quality glass of wine. Just 30 minutes away from our wedding location is Temecula Valley: Southern California's wine country. Our venue, Monserate Winery, also has a tasting room on-site which is fantastic.
Make the most of the final days of summer with a beach day in San Diego. While you can't go wrong with any of San Diego's beaches, here's a guide to help you find the perfect spot based on your preferences: - Pacific Beach/Mission Beach: These are San Diego’s more bustling beaches, featuring local attractions like Belmont Park, plenty of dining options, and lively bars. - Sunset Cliffs: Ideal for people-watching and catching a stunning sunset. - La Jolla Cove: Mentioned earlier, but worth another shout-out for its breathtaking beauty.
A San Diego favorite for both locals and those traveling from out-of-town. Be sure to stop by Balboa Park to check out the beautiful botanical gardens, architecture, and museums next to the Zoo. There is also the San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, CA (a closer distance to our wedding location in Fallbrook, CA).
