Beautiful western North Carolina
The Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina are a beautiful place to visit year-round. There are a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy, from mountain biking to hiking. Nearby Asheville, the largest city of western NC, is known for their food and beer. In late September 2024, this part of North Carolina was impacted by tropical storm Helene, leading to widespread flooding, landslides and damage. The area is still recovering, with many trails still closed due to safety concerns from fallen trees. Supporting the local economy helps with this ongoing recovery, as does being understanding that some parts of the area will never be whole again.
