If you are looking for a nice view and opportunities for hiking, whiteface is a great place to start! You can either drive all the way up or park at the ski resort and take the ski lift to the lower summit!
Just a short drive from Lake Placid and one mile from Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort. We haven't been there yer but it seems to be a 30 min walk attraction featuring waterfalls. I have heard their restaurant is actually pretty good!
