FAQs

Question

What is the wedding attire?

Answer

The attire is Black-Tie, which means floor-length gowns or formal cocktail dresses for women, and tuxes with black neckties or bowties for men.

Question

Where to Land

Answer

Medellin has two airports, but one is a small regional airport inside the city. The international airport, Jose Maria Cordova, is where you should land, airport code MDE. It is about 30 minutes away from the city, we recommend taking an Uber to your hotel.

Question

How to Move Around

Answer

Uber Blacks are the safest way to move around Colombia. Ubers in general are the safest option, and Black Cars are very cheap. Taxis aren't very safe, so we recommend always using Uber Black in Medellin.

Question

Where to Stay

Answer

Our wedding reception will be very close to the airport, which is about 30 minutes away from the city. You have two options, which you can see in the Travel section, you can stay in the city, or in the outskirts of the city, near the wedding venue. Our recommendation is, if you decide to stay in the city, please make sure you stay in an area called El Poblado. It is the "nice" part of town, and by far the safest.

Question

Getting to the Wedding Venue

Answer

For those staying in hotels in the city, we will arrange transportation leaving from the Medellin Marriott Hotel at 5:30 pm on the day of the Wedding. If you are staying in another hotel, please make sure to get there on time if you want to catch a ride! Rides back to the city will be available every few hours from the wedding venue, we'll let you know the schedule for those soon.

Question

Safety in Medellin

Answer

In general, Medellin is relatively safe. Big crime, which was common in the past, is basically gone, and it is an overall safe city. Sadly, just like most large Latin-American cities, there is a lot of petty theft, specially with tourists. Our main recommendations are to try and avoid regular taxis, and use Uber instead, but mainly, we recommend not wearing jewelry or nice watches when you go to restaurants / clubs in the city, as they may call attention to you. The wedding venue is completely safe though, so feel free to wear whatever you want for the big day!
