FAQs

Question

Is the party in Maastricht or in Leiden?

Answer

We will get married in Maastricht on August 25, but this day will only be together with our family (gezin). You are invited to celebrate our marriage on August 29 in Leiden.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We’d love for everyone to dress their best: think elegant, comfortable, and celebration-ready! We would like you to join us in dressing up for this special day, whether you choose your favorite suit, a lovely dress, or something that simply makes you feel amazing.

Question

Where can I park my car?

Answer

The closest parking place to Scheltema is Parkeergarage Lammermarkt. Other options are Stadsparkeerplan Leiden (Haagweg) and ParkBee Rijnsburgersingel . For additional alternatives, please refer to Google Maps.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

To keep things small and relaxed, we’re inviting only adults to join the party.

Question

What is the best way to get around?

Answer

Even though we are recommending using public transport to your advantage, both Uber and Bolt do work in the Netherlands. We would recommend not renting a car as parking is extremely expensive, and the public transportation in Leiden (buses) and across other cities (trains) is excellent.

Question

I don't know where to stay, can I stay at your home?

Answer

Unfortunately, we can’t host anyone overnight. If you don't know where to look, we recommend visiting platforms like booking.com, airbnb.nl, trip.com, hotels.nl, trivago.nl, and expedia.nl

Question

How is the weather like?

Answer

You can never trust the Dutch weather. However, in August, the temperature is usually around 20 degrees Celsius. Always bring a light (rainproof) jacket for your other excursions.

Question

Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

You can use your credit card and Apple Pay at almost any location, also on public transportation. If you want, you can have some euros on you, but keep in mind that many restaurants and shops are now cash-free. The most commonly accepted credit cards are Visa and Mastercard. You might sometimes need to enter a PIN code for your credit card (ask your bank before you travel for this information).
