We met the modern way, on Hinge. After swapping numbers, Camila broke the ice with a hilarious Stitch GIF that, to this day, still makes regular appearances in our texts. In those early days, our conversations were filled with curated Spotify playlists, endless pictures of ducks and clouds, and all the little, random things we noticed while going about our days at The Pearl. Living just a block away from each other made everything feel effortless and exciting. Every moment together felt like a chance to explore the city, like we were tourists in our own home. Less than five months into dating, an opportunity for a promotion in Phoenix came up for Joey. At first, he didn’t seriously consider it, but after thinking about how much fun we could have starting a new adventure together in the desert, he brought the idea to Camila. She immediately jumped at the promise of being “Desert Hippies” together and was all in. Just a few weeks later, we packed up a U-Haul and set out to begin our lives in Arizona. Since then, we’ve explored state and national parks, hiked countless trails, and chased some of the most breathtaking views Arizona has to offer. Along the way, we welcomed the best addition to our little family, our beautiful “dogter,” Raya. Our shared love for nature, culture, beauty, and fun has only grown stronger, inspiring us to see more of the world together. We truly love the life we’ve built and can’t wait to keep living it, embracing all the crazy, the hard, the joyful, and everything in between. This weekend we’ve planned is meant to reflect the unique, fun, and laid-back times we’ve been able to share together in Arizona. We want everyone to feel the same love, happiness, and sense of beauty that we’re lucky enough to experience every day, through each other, through our incredible family and friends, and through this amazing planet we call home.
