It is with the deepest regret that we have to inform you that, due to the ongoing pandemic, NC has tightened their restrictions on gatherings. At this time, we are unable to accommodate everyone at the reception, so we will be limiting our celebration to the wedding party and family members only. We can still fit everyone in the Basilica for the ceremony itself, and you are more than welcome to come witness our union together. If you no longer are able to attend, we completely understand. We just ask that you notify us in advance so that we can make sure we have an accurate seating chart for the wedding.

It might have been Student Mass choir practice? Or the Res Life Olympics? Most likely an eclectic mix of student activities, study sessions in Holy Grounds, and Sunday morning anime watching parties with groups of friends. Either way, tall person met short, they annoyed and intrigued each other immensely, and the rest is history.

Picture it. Hampton, 2019. A comically short nerd and an unbelievably tall Scout embark on a glorious canoe voyage through the sparkly green, borderline marshy waters of Sandy Bottom Nature Park. (What a name, right?) For hours they wander under bridges and weave through marsh grasses, looking for the perfect place for a picnic. The Sun beats overhead, relentless, as the two of them burn and bake in the heat. Finally, they find the perfect place: a nondescript strip of land covered in trees, standing between two adjacent lakes. They disembark onto land, find a clearing framed by poison ivy on all sides, and spread out a picnic blanket. After polishing off peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches and hosting a contest to see who could spit cherry seeds the farthest, Jess notices Cameron fumbling around in his lunchbox. She figures it is something important, so she tactfully looks the other way, watching dragonflies flit about on the marsh grass. A few moments later, Cameron calls her name, asks her a question...and she says yes! And then she laughs, seeing that the ring sits in a handmade wooden box...which had been pulled out of a plastic bag, which had itself been placed in a Tupperware container that had been hidden amidst the sandwiches in the lunchbox.
