For those of you who don’t already know, 10.01 is a very important date for us. It’s our current anniversary and we were beyond excited when we realized it fell on a Saturday in 2022! This gave us the perfect excuse to celebrate not only our marriage but the 9 years we have already been together with everyone we love. There is one thing you should know though…spoiler alert: we’re actually already married! 10.01 is so important to us that we decided to lock in the date on 10.01.2021. We made this decision in part due to the ever present uncertainty that Covid has brought into our lives and other big life milestones - we bought a townhome!! Rest assured, for us this changes nothing in terms of the day's events, vows, and celebrations! We just decided to get the legal paperwork out of the way. ;) We hope you are as excited as we are to celebrate 9 years of our time together, one year married, and cheers to many more!
This relationship was really a lifetime in the making. We both went to Genesee Christian elementary and middle/high school, as many of you know. We were separated by one grade, but were always loosely aware of each other. Catherine thought Cameron was very smart and interesting and wondered what it would be like to be his close friend. Cameron thought Catherine was interesting as well, and that she stood out in a self-affirming way. Mrs. Holmes (Cameron’s mom), the English and speech teacher at GCS, also thought that they would get along well. When Cameron left GCS after 10th grade to pursue dual enrollment it seemed like we would never really get to know each other. Enter Paul Lyman, Cameron’s best friend and best man, and their love of local metal shows. Paul’s last minute invitation to a local show in Flint MI created the perfect opportunity for us to meet, minus the silly social drama of a small high school. We spent almost the whole show talking - nearly no topic was off limits, and the conversation was astoundingly natural. After that numbers were exchanged, two years of close friendship passed, Catherine bluntly confessed love with nearly no context at all and here we are today…nearly 9 years later. Life is funny, every version of it, but in every version we’re pretty sure the two of us find each other.
