Things To Do
Founders Tree (rest stop)
This is a usual stop of ours when driving up 101 North. Great place to stretch your legs, use the restroom and check out a 1,400 year old redwood. There is also 1 mile loop hike to look around the grove.
Loleta Cheese Factory
If you are driving North on 101, stop at the Loleta Cheese Factory! They a lots of different flavored cheese to sample and a beautiful garden out back. This is frequent stop of ours, so if you have time, check it out!
Lost Coast Brewery Brewhouse
Visit Lost Coast Brewery and take a tour of their facility, learn a bit about the Lost Coast story and our brewing process, then stick around to sample our delicious beers. For the young ones, Lost Coast Root Beer on tap, as well as root beer floats and Humboldt Creamery ice cream in a variety of flavors. There is also a restaurant and beer on taps down the road.
Mad River Brewing Company - Tasting Room
If you're interested in craft beer, try Mad River Brewing Company. This place brews our favorite pale ale, Steel Head.
Murphy's Market & Deli
This will be the closest grocery store from the campsite to grab food, ice, etc.
Trinidad State Beach
Take a drive through Trinidad down to the beach. This is a quick drive to the beach about 5 miles from Patrick's Point. There are restaurants, gas station and a grocery store.
Patricks Point State Park
During your stay a Patrick's Point, take a half a day to roam around the park, hike the trails, and check out the beautiful looks outs.
Strawberry Rock Trail Head
If you are up for a hike with a little rock climb, Strawberry rock is a beautiful look out.
College Cove Beach
This is Sara's favorite beach in town. It's a pretty steep hike down to the beach, but so worth it!
Fern Canyon
Fern Canyon is always a great little hike. A shallow creek running through tall walls of beautiful green ferns.
Trees of Mystery
If you want to see Paul Bunyan and the Babe the blue ox, check out Trees of Mystery. For $15 a person, you can enter a forest of awesome and interesting old growth redwoods, and a gondola ride up to a beautiful lookout.
