Our love story started off in a junior college classroom. The first day of school in a new city was hard enough as it is, but I did not know what was in store for me. Walking into an entry-level computer applications class, nothing was more sobering than realizing a junior college had a lot more older students. Unlike high school, the likelihood of having classmates the same age is very slim. Spotting the only person who was remotely close in age, I asked if the seat next to him was taken. He quickly said “No.. of course.. go a head” while shuffling some papers out of the way. Little did we know, Microsoft Applications held the power to meeting our future partner. It was easy to find commonalities and similar interests. We started off as classmates, moved onto homework partners, then decided to make it official.
After graduating from Carl Sandburg College and WIU together, the two of us made strides in our relationship through many challenges. We moved half way across the country to a new city. This change allowed us to grow together in many ways. FINALLY after 2 two years of living together, Cam made the best decision of his life.
Cam knew for a long time that Rachel was his partner for life. There was no doubt that he wanted her. He just needed to man up and ask the question! After sharing our love for the outdoors and hiking, Cam had an idea for the engagement. After getting the ring that he envisioned on Rachel's finger, there was one last step. "Let's go hiking" said Cam. Staunton State Park. After hiking for a couple miles, there was an opening in the trees with a lot of sunlight. No one around, except those two. It was beautiful. The place where Rachel and Cam decided to accept each other.
