Since ride-share options aren’t available this far out of Portland, staying at the lodge will make things easier for you—and let us all celebrate together from start to finish. Skamania Lodge is a true Pacific Northwest retreat, set among stunning forests and scenic trails with plenty of ways to relax and enjoy nature. Whether you’re coming in from Iowa, just nearby in Portland, or somewhere else this is the perfect place to experience the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge while gathering with friends and family. Flights to Portland
Skamania Lodge, our wedding venue, is about a 50-minute drive from Portland International Airport (PDX). Please note that ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are not available this far outside the city, so we recommend renting a car for your convenience or arranging a shuttle. For our family and friends traveling from Iowa, Allegiant Airlines offers seasonal direct flights from Des Moines International Airport (DSM) to PDX on the following dates: Sunday, 8/3: Departs DSM at 3:29 PM, arrives at PDX at 5:12 PM Tuesday, 8/5: Departs DSM at 2:21 PM, arrives at PDX at 4:04 PM Thursday, 8/7: Departs DSM at 3:29 PM, arrives at PDX at 5:12 PM The return direct flight from PDX to DSM on Sunday, 8/10 departs at 6:02 PM and arrives at 11:17 PM. If you prefer flying with a major airline, Alaska, Delta, United, and Southwest offer options to PDX, but they typically require a layover and are more expensive.

If you’re traveling in and want to make a week out of it, why not start your trip in Portland, OR before heading off to the scenic getaway in Stevenson, WA? Canopy by Hilton is located about 50 minutes from Stevenson and in the heart of Portland! Our immediate family will be staying at the Canopy by Hilton in the Pearl District for the week leading up to the wedding. Canopy by Hilton is just a few blocks from where we live, and we’d love for you to join us! The Pearl District is one of Portland’s most vibrant neighborhoods, filled with great restaurants, shops, and iconic spots that capture the spirit of the city. Within walking distance, you’ll find the famous Powell’s City of Books, art galleries, breweries, coffee shops, and the beautiful riverfront at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. There’s also easy access to the Portland Japanese Garden and International Rose Test Garden, perfect for a day exploring the city’s green spaces. Staying a few nights in Portland before heading to Stevenson is a great way to experience both the city’s culture and the natural beauty—an ideal summer vacation all while coming to celebrate us! (This is recommended for those coming for the week: Sunday, 8/3 to Friday, 8/8. It is highly recommended you stay at Skamania Lodge on the wedding night.)
