We went here on our first friend meet for coffee! It's right down the road from Oak Church so could be a fun place to drop by before or after the ceremony. They have delicious made-to-order churros and the best hot chocolate. Try the Chloe Kim churro ice cream sandwich!
Calvin proposed here at our favorite local flower shop! Also down the road from Oak Church, it's a tiny shop packed tight with blooms and greens and looks like a hobbit house from the front side (we think, anyway). Take a greenish wander!
We had our first kiss here under grey spring rain and cherry tree blossoms. Calvin's umbrella, however, disapproved and, through an opening in the fabric, dumped water on him. These gardens are extensive and beautiful (and free!).
This is one of our favorite spots to walk around outdoors! The trails are quite easy, and you can take walks as short as a few minutes or as long as a few hours.
Take a tour (with tastings!) at the USA's #1 gin distillery according to at least one fancy competition. The tour guides are hilarious, and it's a blast to learn about the distilling process.
This fun breakfast/sandwich/pie spot is a great place to go to with a group! This is probably our #1 recommendation for breakfast on the day of the wedding.
For those of you who might be making a vacation out of this trip, Asheville NC, the state's favorite vacation spot, is about 3.5 hours from Durham. It's famous for its proximity to the Appalachian Mountains with amazing hiking, incredible food + brewery scene, and presence of the Biltmore House, the largest house (and crazy estate with beautiful grounds) in the USA.
For those making a trip out of our wedding, Wilmington NC, the state's other favorite vacation spot, is about 2.5 hours from Durham. Wilmington is on the coast and is close to some of the most beautiful spots in the state.
