How We Started

November 25, 2014

Jacob started at Babies R Us in August of 2014, where I had been working for a little over a year. We had some high quality work arguments about my expectations of Jacob at work, but I'm sure that's hard to imagine, as I am not bossy or sassy at all! Jacob had asked me out on a couple dates and I wouldn't commit to a date. Something kept coming up... Jacob had told me that he was going to stop trying to get me to go out with him and was going to pursue someone else we worked with that expressed interest. I told him "Fine"... well, long story short, this other girl started talking to me about how she thought Jacob was SO cute and asking for advice...I couldn't have that. I asked Jacob to meet me at Noodles and Company for lunch two days before Thanksgiving. He likes to tell me that I talked for multiple hours without requiring response AND made him move tables because of the sun. We hugged goodbye and later that night, I was out with my friend driving through town. I stopped by Jacob's for our first kiss, and ever since - I've been hooked. Here we are a little over six years later. Best decision of my life going on that first date!

Proposal

September 5, 2020

Within the first few years of dating, I surprised Jacob with a trip up to Breckenridge for his birthday. We stayed at the Lodge at Breckenridge. Since that trip, Breckenridge has been our location. About a week before our engagement, my two best friends had me go get my nails done with them. I had brought up to Jacob how I hoped this meant maybe a ring was in my future. We were on the phone one day when I brought this up and he told me that it wasn't going to happen in 2020 and I needed to understand that so I wasn't disappointed...well, I'm sure you can guess - I was SO disappointed. In the week leading to our proposal, Jacob met up with my dad to ask for his blessing. They met at the Taco John's on my dad's work exit...of all the locations! Maddy and Michael, our two best friends were set to go up to Breckenridge with us on the 5th, as a preplanned trip. Maddy told me she wanted to take nice pictures so she made me dress nice and put makeup on. When we got to their apartment, they both came down dressed relatively casually (okay, Michael was dressed way more casually than Maddy - she was cute!) and I was so mad that I was all dressed up for nothing. We explored and looked for pretty changing trees (while fighting AWFUL mountain traffic). We got to the Lodge at Breckenridge to take the nice pictures Maddy wanted. Jacob told Maddy and I to pose for this photo where we made a heart with our arms facing out towards the mountains. We stood there forever! Finally, when I was able to turn around, Jacob was on one knee telling me how much he loved me. To my dismay, I interrupted him (which I will NEVER live down now) and once we got back on track, I said yes. He did an outstanding job with the ring and with the proposal. I cannot wait to spend forever with this man who puts up with me and ALL of my shenanigans. Here is a link to our proposal, and all I can say is that I hope Shane Co. gets ahold of it somehow and wants to sponsor us! https://youtu.be/b3AIt0YSvu8
