I've known Ryan since summer 2011. He was a key part of our college-graduation-celebration road trip-- destination New Orleans. I had never met someone so fun and funny, who had all the right priorities in life, had so much to offer, and who was also so selfless, humble, and genuinely good. After just one or two weekends, I felt like I knew him and understood who he was. I was probably ready to get married after being friends for three months. But we had to really get a handle on this great college basketball rivalry. It took about four years for him to get over the fact that I'm a Louisville Cardinal, which I think shows incredible dedication to his team. That was just in time for me to move to Louisiana for residency at Tulane. And apart from basketball season, it's been great ever since.
It was our perfect day in New Orleans. A morning jog on the levee. Coffee at a coffee shop in Algier's Point. Brunch at Surreys. A satsuma flavored snowball from Hansen's. A picnic under the Tree of Life in Audubon Park, complete with Geaux Cups for our favorite New Orleans beverages. And if there weren't even early Fourth of July fireworks on our drive home after he popped the question.
