Where did Joseph and Callie meet?

Callie and Joseph met in a college scuba diving class. It was here that Callie's Butterfly Stroke attracted Joseph as she looked like a dying fish. They now try to go scuba diving at least once a year and pretend to be mermaids.

Why does Callie always call Joseph "Skeeter"?

Answer

Long story short, the Tornstroms took a vacation to a dude ranch in Arizona, where a local musician went by "Skeeter Biscuit". Joseph then adopted that name for the boys' annual SnowShoe Skiing trip as his radio name with the rest of the crew adopting more questionable ones... Callie seemed to pick up on that name, along with other Woodlands lingo, and it transformed over time. You won't ever hear her calling Joseph "babe", but "skeeter" seemed to stick.
