Lucca is a city on the Serchio river in Italy’s Tuscany region. It’s known for the well-preserved Renaissance walls encircling its historic city center and its cobblestone streets. Located about 12 miles from Pisa and 60 miles from Florence, Lucca is best accessed by flying into either the Florence or Pisa airport. Transport options from the airport include train, car service, car rental, or taxi. There are many boutique hotels located inside the wall. Because most of these hotels have a small number of rooms, we do not have a dedicated room block. While there are many options, below are some highly recommended hotels that are all within a 5 minute walk of the venue. We know that some guests may choose to travel and stay together, and there are many options for apartment rentals inside the walls for groups large and small. We suggest looking at Airbnb or Vrbo for rental options.

Venue

The wedding ceremony and celebrations will take place at the Palazzo Pfanner, located inside the renaissance walls of old Lucca. The area inside the walls of Lucca is very walkable, so we highly suggest acquiring accommodations inside the wall.

International Driving Permit

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required by law if you plan to operate a vehicle in Italy - whether you're renting a car in Italy or booking an international rental which will take you briefly across the Italian border. Once you arrive in Italy you will be ineligible to obtain the license, so it is important that you do so before departing on your trip. We recommend that you apply for an IDP at least one month before you need it to give AAA or AATA time to process and deliver your IDP for your trip to Italy.
