We're getting Married!

It all began with a few messages between two random people and a plan for dinner and drinks at The Whale in Logan Square on May 13th, 2021. Those two random people? Marc and Callie! From the moment they sat down, things were going well, so well that they forgot to even order dinner. When the night was winding down, they both remembered getting an Uber was still pretty hard (thanks, post-pandemic times). After two canceled rides and an hour of waiting, Callie offered to drive Marc home—even though she lived 30 minutes in the opposite direction. Marc was suspicious. Who goes that far out of their way on a first date? He joked that she might be planning to murder him, but eventually, after some convincing, he agreed. To throw her off, Marc played some Shpongle on the ride home, secretly hoping the strange music would scare her away. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. Luckily, Marc survived the ride, and the two continued seeing each other. Things were going well and they made their relationship official on July 8th, 2021. Fast forward to August 28th, 2021. Marc and Callie had tickets to see Rise Against at an amphitheater on Lake Michigan. The show was amazing, and the night was full of energy. Afterward, they walked along the lakefront, taking in the perfect Chicago skyline. It was hot out, and after getting sweaty from the concert, they sat by the lake to cool off. That’s when they fumbled through their first "I love you." Romantic, sweaty, and perfect. From there, their love grew and took them on many adventures together. They camped in the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, snowboarded in Vermont, and indulged in schnitzel and beer in Germany and Austria. Back home in Chicago, they continued exploring together—and even welcomed an incredibly rambunctious puppy, Zorba, into their lives. Everything was going great until October 2022, when Callie got accepted into graduate school on the East Coast. It meant moving halfway across the country to pursue her dreams, but Marc never hesitated. By April 2023, he had packed his bags and moved with her to New Haven, CT. It was their first time living together, and while there were a few bumps along the way (as any couple experiences), they built a beautiful life together. More trips followed—to Taos, New Mexico, and Loon, New Hampshire—and they spent weekends hiking, visiting wineries, and hanging out with friends. They even decided to welcome another furry friend into their home, Nova. Finally, on November 20th, 2023, Marc asked Callie the big question. Spoiler alert: she said yes! The rest is history.
