This one is near and dear to Caleb and my hearts—it’s all about music! (Also they have an 11 foot tall Octobass 🤯) MIM has a collection of more than 7,500 instruments from more than 200 countries and territories. The galleries reflect the rich diversity and history of many world cultures. But music and instruments also show us what we have in common—a thought powerfully expressed in the museum’s motto, music is the language of the soul.
Experience a side of Scottsdale and the Sonoran Desert unlike any other by exploring Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home and desert laboratory, a location inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Fascinating architecture and breathtaking views of our beautiful Sonoran Desert!
Whenever we’re home visiting our family here in Phoenix, we try do this hike! The highest point in the Phoenix Mountains, Camelback is an iconic Phoenix hike with beautiful views, named after the shape of the mountain. (And if you look at it from afar, you’ll also see the rock formation known as the “Praying Monk”) There are two sides to this hike: Echo Canyon, which is shorter but steeper (some fun boulder scrambling, and even a few parts with metal rails to hold onto!) Cholla, which is longer and has more steps involved, but minimal boulder climbing and still gorgeous views!
Another iconic hike in the Phoenix Mountains. The second highest point in this mountain range. Piestewa Peak is named in honor of Army Spc. Lori Ann Piestewa, the first known Native American woman to die in combat in the U.S. military, and the first female soldier to be killed in action in the 2003 Iraq War.
At more than 16,000 acres, South Mountain Park/Preserve is one of the largest municipally managed parks in the nation and consists of three mountain ranges - the Ma Ha Tauk, Gila and Guadalupe. We can’t get enough of the unique and thriving beauty of the desert landscape!
A breathtaking landmark that overlooks Phoenix, this timeless estate combines historic 1930s grandeur with modern cuisine. Tours of the mansion are offered as well! Take our word for it—the food is delicious, the views are beautiful, and the historic mansion itself is gorgeous and impressive!
One of our favorite things to do in Phoenix is to walk around charming Old Town Scottsdale (and maybe do some shopping and snacking while there 😊) Nestled within nine walkable neighborhoods you'll find a unique collection of shops, restaurants, art galleries and nightclubs, as well as contemporary public art installations, world-class museums and historic sites from the late 1880s.
