We met 10 years ago and would stay up chatting with our friends until all hours of the night. We never knew what God had in store for us many years later. A spiritual father and mentor to Karissa, Ed Silvoso, told her in 2012 "You have already met the man you will marry." And at the time, she doubted if there was anyone in her sphere of influence who could be a match. Sure enough, many years later, that very statement rang true.
On the weekend in June when we reconnected, we went on a hike at Pinecrest Lake. Arriving right before sunset, the entire atmosphere was glowing heavenly hues with a full double rainbow over the lake. (Never seen before or since that time!) As we hiked, a rare “hummingbird moth” flew to us and Karissa literally looked at Caleb and said "I think we have entered another world!" That’s how it felt: magical! After that weekend we could not stop talking and spending time in the outdoors: unlocking a depth of Peace and Joy just being around each other. Caleb officially asked Karissa to date him with a song, flowers, and sunset picnic overlooking the Bay Area on July 22, 2017. Caleb celebrated every month by making Karissa homemade cards.
Karissa had a bee dream years ago where God said to her, “I want you to know about my goodness.” It was a really difficult time in life; but, as a daily reminder of this promise, bees started showing up everywhere. They would rest on the windshield at stoplights, fly in front of her, and three bees even joined her in the water swimming by her kayak! Four months into their dating life, Caleb actually wrote Karissa a song about honeybees. And later Caleb designed Karissa’s ring with gold honeycomb on the sides as a symbol of goodness, fulfillment and provision in their relationship. The goodness of God is truly "more desirable than gold. Yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb."
Caleb and Karissa often communicate completely in #Hashtags, so our wedding wouldn't be complete without the most modern twitterpated lingo: #AisleBeeYours #2Beecomb1 #Alaskya2beMyWife #WeCanKirkItOut #ASwiftKirk2theHeart #KirkifyYourLyfe #KickinStafford2TheKirk
We are excited to announce that we will be moving to Alaska after we get married! We have been given an opportunity to come alongside Limitless Church in Palmer and work with a longtime mentor of Caleb's. We are excited about the opportunity to start our lives together in The Last Frontier: To infinity and beyond!
