Although we had crossed paths a few times before, it wasn’t until our friends set us up on a blind date in the summer of 2023 (shoutout to Ian, Nat, and Grace—seriously, we owe you!) that we actually got together. From non-stop jokes while rock climbing at the Commons to more heartfelt chats afterwards over burgers & beers at Payette, we quickly realized our friends might be onto something really really good. But our early dates were nothing short of wild. On a kayaking trip with YD the day after our first date, Caleb got a gnarlyyyy concussion in a rock accident, meaning our second date involved him being, well, only half-conscious. By the third date, we were starting to wonder if we were cursed when a “quick hike” turned into a mudslide escape during a torrential downpour and some very close lightning strikes (the air turned blue!). Despite the chaotic start—and the forces of nature seemingly working against us—it became clear that God was working to bring us together with every adventure. We still look at each other and laugh at how crazy the early days of our relationship were, amazed that we made it through and thankful that we did!
We both came from backgrounds that placed a high value on community & deep relationships. Whether it was in the families that raised us, the churches we have been discipled in, or the friends/roommates/coworkers/mentors who supported us through every season, we would not be who we are without each of you. You were invited to this wedding for a specific reason- not just because we think you're cool (even though we really really do)- but because you are a part of our village! So, thank you for loving us. We love you right back.
Before we ever came together, we both had a deep love and appreciation for exploring God's creation. Most of our favorite memories together have been set against the backdrop of the outdoors. Whether we're climbing at the City of Rocks, road-tripping along the coast of California, camping in the mountains of Idaho, skiing with our friends, backpacking in the Tetons, or playing volleyball in the parks of Boise, we both agree that time spent outside is never wasted.
Our proposal was full of surprises & nothing short of magical! Caleb went all out, planning an incredible city-wide scavenger hunt with friends stationed at each stop, ready with the next clue. He chose a hidden spot along the Boise River at golden hour to pop the question, and after Grace said yes, we celebrated with a riverside picnic followed by a steak dinner at The Lively. But the surprises didn’t stop there! Caleb had secretly gathered his family, our friends, and even Grace’s brother, Jono, for a celebration afterwards. We’re beyond grateful for the amazing community God has blessed us with, and having them be part of such a special day made it unforgettable.
