Caleb and Cata met in high school—he was a senior, and she was a junior. They had mutual friends and had seen each other in passing (yes, plenty of those “invisible line” moments), but they had never actually been introduced. That changed one Mother’s Day, when Cata was working at Applebee’s and Caleb walked in with his family. He caught her attention right away (he’d say it was the Jordans and gold chain, she’d say it was his smile). She told her coworker—who just so happened to be dating one of his friends. One thing led to another and from the moment they got in contact, they became inseparable… at least for a few weeks. Soon after, Caleb left for basic training with the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. Cata said goodbye, assuming he might move on and that what they had could be chalked up to just a summer fling. But then, a letter showed up in the mail. In that moment, everything changed. They started to write letters back and forth, called whenever they could, and stayed on FaceTime all night until morning reveille echoed through the speakers. They realized what the had was more than a summers worth and could last a lifetime. They made long distance work for nearly a year, building something real from miles apart. In 2020, Cata graduated high school, and Caleb was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. They decided to take the next step and moved into an apartment together in Lincoln. Since then, they’ve lived in multiple places, had their fair share of roommates, and built a life side by side. After nearly a decade together, they’ve grown up alongside one another. From school books and “Yessir” to car detailing and DoorDashing, they’ve experienced every season of life together—and each one has only deepened their love, strengthened their bond, and shaped who they are today. Today, they continue to build their life together in Lincoln—raising their fur babies, building a business side by side, and growing into the life they once only dreamed about as they prepare to become husband and wife.
