♪ "Zeta, oh zeta, we really want to take ya down to the shore" ♪ Caleb and Caroline met early Spring semester of freshman year at Vanderbilt University. After a few months as acquaintances, the two bonded on a spring break trip with Caleb’s fraternity (ATO) to Gulf Shores, Alabama. "It's only two weeks, right?" After spring break and on March 10th, 2020, the couple began their relationship with a semester cut short by COVID, travelling home to Bellevue, WA, and Carmel, IN, respectively. This started a 6-month stint of long-distance that would be the first of many. Despite being apart, Caleb and Caroline grew closer, delighting in talking with one another via FaceTime. “Meeting the family” coincided with COVID-conscious trips on nearly empty airplanes only a few months into dating. “Anchor Down!” Vanderbilt resumed in-person classes in the Fall of 2020, leading to an era of a few (unfortunate) quarantines but many shared friendships that are still strong today. The college years included date parties, couples’ costumes (a favorite being Bob and Larry from VeggieTales – Caleb was Larry), road trips, job applications, and a few shared classes (German Fairytales and Food in the Ancient World). Caleb graduated officially in December 2022, and after a semester’s worth of working at Desano’s Pizza, he celebrated graduation with Caroline in May 2023. "Lets circle back on that" After graduating, the couple began their longest (and hopefully FINAL!) stint of long-distance, with Caleb at Apple in San Francisco, CA, and Caroline at McKinsey & Company in Seattle, WA. "Will you marry me?" A few weeks after their fifth anniversary, Caleb proposed to Caroline in Hilton Head Island. He commissioned an artist (Bohemian Mint on Etsy) to portray the last five years of memories (see below), reminiscing through the entire map before popping the question. The answer was an easy yes, and the couple looks forward to their wedding in August 2026. We hope to see you there!
