August 2016 Freshman Year (to set the scene): Fun fact, I was the FIRST girl Cale saw/met at Bethel. It was freshman year move in day for the football team, I had already been on campus for a few weeks preparing for the team to move in. A little back story- I landed an on campus job working with the team as a manager. Both of my brothers had played football at Bethel, so our family knew the coaches well. My major was sports medicine so I thought it would not only be fun with friends on the team but it also related to what I was studying. On move in day, I was in charge of taking the newcomers to get their student ID. I grabbed JJ (we were friends before college) and the group of guys he was with to lead them to the student life office. It was right before Cale got his school ID picture taken that JJ casually introduced us, just like he did with the rest of the guys. (Cale always jokes that was the reason his smile was abnormally big in his ID picture...I think he was just trying to flatter me). First week of school rolls around and Cale and I find ourselves in the same 'core group' (those of you from Bethel know what I am talking about) but basically it was a shared class. We also found ourselves hanging out with the same friend group. I will admit, we were "flirty friends" or whatever you want to call it for a bit...but nothing came of it at first. Finally, (I say finally as if it was a long time...it wasn't...at all) after hesitations from both of us, we started dating in OCTOBER. Needless to say, this life event came with the typical brother feedback. "Wow you waited a whole two months to start dating someone.." What can I say, I couldn't help it. News of our relationship spread like wild-fire (in typical Bethel fashion) and the fact that we had "become official" was actually announced at football practice the next day. Props to Cale (and me) for withstanding the amount of jokes/teasing that followed from the team/coaches but we loved it.
