Travel

Our loved ones are traveling from all corners of the world—here are some of the best ways to get there. Passport information: New regulations dictate that passengers should have at least six months of validity when travelling internationally. Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel. Travelers can renew their passport online or by mail. For further information on passport renewal please visit the State Departments website. Additional Information for those transiting through the UK: For those travelling from the states, as of January 8, 2025, an Electronic Travel authorization (ETA) form is required for those travelling through the UK. The ETA costs 16 pounds and can be purchased on the Gov.UK website.

Flight

Rome (FCO) - Leonardo da Vinci - Fiumicino Airport

The Rome airport is the international hub for flights (from the U.S.). We highly recommend starting your trip in this beautiful and historic city if you have time. To travel from Rome to Siena is a 2.5 hour drive or a 50 euro train ride between the two cities. Please note, for those traveling directly from Rome to Siena, there is a train transfer in Florence, which is very easy to navigate. Our favorite way to book trains in Italy is by using the Rome2Rio website, linked below. Lastly, please note rental cars are available for pick-up in the FCO airport as well. Please see below for rental recommendations.

Train

Roma Termini

Roma Termini is Rome's main railway station, a major transport hub for the city and the surrounding region. For those of you travelling from FCO, we recommend catching the Leonardo Express, which leaves every 20 minutes from the airport to Roma Termini. As mentioned above, once at Roma Termini, you are able to train to Siena with a transfer in Florence (Firenze Santa Maria Novella). The train tickets can be purchased using the Rome2Rio app (linked above) in any combination, including the Leonardo Express.

Flight

Florence (FLR) - Florence Peretola International Airport

For our guests travelling by air, the closest airport to our wedding venue is Florence Airport, also known as Peretola (FLR). It is approximately a 1 hour drive to the venue. The airport offers car rentals, taxis, and easy connections to Florence's main train station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella), making it convenient for those staying in the city or travelling elsewhere in Italy. For those beginning their travels in Florence (FLR), a convenient tram runs daily from Terminal 2 to the Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station. Operating from 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., the journey takes approximately 20 minutes. The 'Peretola - Aeroporto' tram stop is just a 2-minute walk from the Arrivals and Departures terminal.

Train

Firenze Santa Maria Novella.

Firenze Santa Maria Novella is the main railway station in Florence, Italy, and an hour train ride to Siena. For those wishing to book tickets, we recommend the Rome2Rio website, linked below.

Hotel

Villa Scacciapensieri

10 Strada di Scacciapensieri
Siena, Toscana 53100, Italy

Villa Scacciapensieri is a charming boutique hotel nestled just 20 minutes from the hills of Castello di Celsa. We’ve reserved the entire property for the nights of June 10 and June 11, 2025, so our guests can enjoy staying together in one beautiful location. The villa accommodates up to 74 guests and rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The price ranges from 165 euros per night (approximately $188 in USD) for a single occupancy room to 330 euros (approximately $375 USD) per night for a triple occupancy room. Breakfast is included with your stay. To book, please contact Caitlyn Dickman at 480-213-7066 or michaelchuckwedding@gmail.com. There is free parking on the property for those who wish to rent a car, as well as a beautiful pool overlooking the Siena countryside, which is at the disposal of the guests.

Rental Car

Sixt, Enterprise, Avis, Europcar, Alamo

For those of you who would like to rent a car, see our preferred companies to the left - with Sixt being the bride's personal favorite. Please ensure you book an automatic car unless you are travelling with someone who can drive manual. Please note that an International Driver's Permit (IDP) is required to rent a vehicle in Italy. For information on how to obtain an IDP, please visit the AAA website. Additionally, most credit cards do not include rental car insurance in Italy, and therefore must be purchased along with the price of the rental.

Travel Note

Taxi

Please note that Uber and Lyft are not available in Siena. We highly recommend downloading the ‘appTaxi’ app in advance, as it may not work properly with a U.S. phone number once you’re in Italy. For those who prefer not to use the app, taxis are generally easy to find outside both the Siena and Florence train stations and airports. All wedding activity transportation will be provided.

Travel Note
