Short answer: We want to spend more time with you! Our goal for our wedding is to spend as much time with our amazing friends and family as possible. Not only do we want more time with our guests, but we want time and space for our loved ones to meet and mingle. We look forward to you celebrating our marriage, as well as a weekend full of lake front games, dining, drinking, and dancing.
Because it feels straight out of a Wes Anderson movie! Camp Rockmont reminded Caitlyn of her summers up in NH on Lake Winnipesaukee. Camp Rockmont was once a small arts college and is now an all boys summer camp. The camp has preserved a lot of the historic architecture and has a warm and nostalgic feel. We hope you will fall in love with the small wooden cabins, winding trails, beautiful lake views and fun gathering spaces just as we did.
It means getting to feel like a kid again! We know that staying in cabins is not a traditional wedding experience. Guests that stay on the property will be roomed with other friends in cabins and lodges, and share communal spaces (e.g. bathrooms) with people who we know they are comfortable with. We hope this facilitates lots of porch hangs, eno naps, star gazing and belly laughs. You will also be walking distance from all meals, events and activities of the weekend!
You certainly don't have to! While we would love all of our friends and family in one place, we know that bunks may not be for everyone. You are welcome to choose to stay somewhere nearby and drive in for the events. We do recommend that if you choose to stay somewhere else, you also either rent a car or drive your own. It is not a guarantee that you will be able to get an Uber or taxi from the towns nearby or the camp.

On Friday, dinner will be provided at the Welcome Party. On Saturday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. On Sunday, there will be one last breakfast together before everyone checks out. Outside of meal times, there will be snacks and drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks, water) provided.
Check out our cabin photos in the "Staying at Camp" section and also feel free to check out Camp Rockmont's website. Bedding, pillows and towels will be provided for you and the members of your party.
At the lake, there will be canoes and a Water Blob. (What's a blob you may ask? Have you ever seen the 90's classic Heavyweights? If not, do yourself the favor.) There's also a zip-line, rock climbing wall, pickleball, hiking trails, and water gully. We also expect to have some other fun activities planned, and we will give you a schedule at check-in (example at the top of the "Schedule" section), and they'll be posted to this website before Camp Smith officially kicks off.
The camp is about a 40 minute drive from the Asheville Regional Airport, and a little over 2 hours from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. From there, you can easily hire an Uber or taxi or rent a car, if you prefer.
Asheville is beautiful and a lot of fun, so it makes sense to us that people want to visit. (Asheville even got a shout-out this year from the New York Times' 52 Places to Visit in 2025!) Asheville is a 20 minute drive from Camp Rockmont. You could easily extend your stay and plan a getaway to Asheville.
Absolutely! We respect everyone's decisions as to their sleeping arrangements. We will be setting up an RSVP page on our schedule section of the website to let us know what activities with food you will be attending so we know we have enough for everyone. Absolutely everyone is invited to all events and activities regardless of where you lay your head at night. Feel free to come and go as you please!
It's a summer camp, and we want you to feel comfortable. Feel free to wear casual clothes all weekend except at the Ceremony and Reception. During the Ceremony and Reception, we ask that you wear Semi-Formal or Dressy Casual.
We are happy to spend any and all time with our guests. However, we know that a full weekend of activities may not be possible for everyone. Please indicate on your RSVP if you will not be able to attend certain events.
We would love for you to be able to join us and stay at camp, no matter when you arrive. Please just let us know of your arrival on your RSVP when available, so we can make sure you are accounted for AND that someone is ready to check you in and show you around.
Each individual invitation will include the name/number of people who we hope will be able to share the day with us. Although we love your kids and are sure we would like any plus one you would bring, if there is not a name/plus one spot, please do not bring an extra guest, including your children.
Leading up to Camp Smith, the best people to contact are Caitlyn and Carlos. You already have one of their phone numbers. When you arrive, we will make sure you know who your Camp Smith Counselors are. They'll be able to answer any questions you may have during camp.
