Our Story
The first meeting
Cam and Caitlyn first met in 2016 at a Canberra Cavalry game. They were both their with friends. It was a short meeting but ended with a Facebook add and an Instagram follow. After that day they went on with their lives and never thought about each other. But the invisible string remained attached, running into each other at a McDonalds staff Christmas party and cameoing in the same 'Manequin Challenge' video.
The swipe right
Cam and Caitlyn both ran their own races after their meeting in 2016. Cam finished school and dove straight into his electrical apprenticeship whereas Caitlyn had her eyes fixed on moving to the US for college. In August of 2019, Caitlyn embarked on her US College adventure in Galveston Texas. Being surrounded by her teammates and lots of free-will, she downloaded Tinder with her roommate Laini. In late-December, Caitlyn travelled home for three weeks over Christmas, returning back to Texas mid-January. One evening early January, Caitlyn was bored and decided to use that free-will and jumped on Tinder. She came across Cam's profile and thought 'I know this guy!'. She swiped right because she knew him, next thing she knew it was a match!
The First Move
Cam was the first to reach out after matching on Tinder. While there is no receipts, the first message was along the lines of 'Hey, do I know you from somewhere?'. After a bit of back and forth, the pair (Cam) realised where they knew each other from and noticed they were friends on Facebook. After exchanging snapchat details, Cam and Caitlyn began to get to know each other. Cam asked if she was free to catch up while they were on holidays, that was when she had to break the news that she was heading back to the US, the next day. He said 'no worries, I'll just keep talking to you until you get back' (Spoiler Alert: he did).
The Pandemic
After Caitlyn returned to the US, the pair spoke as friends with no expectation for anything else to flourish. The 15hr time difference made it hard to hold a good conversation but the two spoke as much as they could. Caitlyn grew more and more homesick for this guy she'd never met. The two continued to chat while Cam went on his South Pacific cruise. They spoke about wanting to go on holidays together one day, feelings were starting to bloom on both sides. In early March, concern started to grow for a global pandemic. Caitlyn's softball season was put on hold and she was sent home with a teammate. Her Softball season was cancelled on the 17th of March and she was on a plane back to Australia by the 20th. Heartbroken she had to say goodbye to Texas but excited to finally meet Cam, again.
The First Date
Caitlyn had to endure a two-week at home quarantine once she got home from the US. She and Cam a lot more now they were in the same timezone. In early April, the pair finally had their first date and walked around Lake Burley Griffin. Caitlyn, pent up with anxiety and excitement walked straight up to Cam and planted one on the lips, Cam was worried about social distancing but gave in for the first kiss. Cam and Caitlyn spent the next month going on 'dates' which included kicking the footy or teaching Cam how to play softball as no restaurants were open. On the 16th of May, they finally exited the situationship and Cam asked Caitlyn to be his girlfriend.
The Life Together
From May 2020 onwards, Cam and Caitlyn have worked hard to build their dream life together. Through holidays together, lazy weekends and a love for the Manly Sea Eagles, Cam and Caityn are two puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together. In December 2022, Cam and Caitlyn purchased their first home together. The pair spent their free time making their house a home to grow their family. In June 2023 they grew their family by four little legs when Bonnie entered their lives. Finally in November 2023, Cam finally sealed the deal by asking Caitlyn to marry him alongside Bonnie and Harper on their favourite beach in Bateman's Bay. After running Caitlyn in circles all day, he suggested they go for a walk at sunset. They walked along the beach, hand in hand, when she saw a picnic set up. He dropped onto one knee, tears in eyes and asked Caitlyn the important question. She said yes, and here we are! Five and a half years later, it's time for the pair to get married and continue their story!
