Wedding Party

We love all of our family and friends, and can't wait to celebrate with everyone. Get to know who will be standing next to us as we fumble through our vows...

Caitlin Miller

Bride

Caitlin was mildly terrified when she arrived at Rutgers Law in late August 2013. Luckily, her bearded, friendly law school orientation leader, Ian, was kind enough to give her a helping hand. Caitlin and Ian quickly bonded over their love of sushi and Game of Thrones, and anger at the inequities of the criminal justice system. Despite the occasional miserable moments of law school, they fell in love. Now, more than six years later, Caitlin is very excited to marry Ian and watch him embarrass himself on the dance floor during their first dance.

Ian Liberty

Groom

Ian was Caitlin’s law school orientation leader. He was instructed by the law school dean to scare the first-years a bit. So, on the first day of orientation, Ian repeated the cheesy line, courtesy of the law school administration: “Your weekends are no longer yours.” Caitlin continues to make fun of Ian for this. It turns out, though, that Ian was wrong. After their first date strolling through the aptly named Liberty State Park followed by drinks at Barcade, Caitlin’s weekends were still hers. Instead, Ian’s weekends were no longer his.

Devon Miller

Maid of Honor

Devon, the middle sister, was genuinely surprised to even be invited to Caitlin's wedding, let alone be asked to be a Maid of Honor. Initially, Devon's mere existence was a burden to Caitlin, but eventually, Caitlin finally accepted her position as older sister. Devon enjoys making Caitlin laugh, as everyone knows it's one of the greatest sounds in the world. In fact, Devon contends that the reason Caitlin has such rock hard abs has nothing to do with her strange love of salad or torturous exercise videos, but rather because she's given her such a workout making her laugh.

Scott Rappaport

Best Man

One-third of what Ian's mom calls "the three musketeers," Scott and Ian have been friends since preschool. From family vacations to San Francisco and cruises on the Caribbean, to bringing broken pieces of Scott's car into Scott's parents bedroom they have created a lifetime of memories. Ian is thrilled to have him stand up next to him as one of his best men.

Corinna "Beanie" Miller

Maid of Honor

Corinna "Beanie" Miller was the last attempt by Alice and Jonathan to get a perfect child. Thankfully, they succeeded. She was sorted into Gryffindor on her 11th birthday and waddled her way through high school, skipping Latin to take frequent naps in the library, until graduation. She moved to London to attempt to develop an authentic accent and be with her Mr. Darcy when she decided she rather liked the cold and rain and decided to stay there and marry her nerdy, hamburger loving, Slytherin boyfriend. She enjoys making fun of Devon and Caitlin, watching America’s Next Top Model, crying for no apparent reason, writing her novel (which she WILL finish), and playing the Sims.

Ilan Bemaman

Best Man

The other third of "the three musketeers," Ian and Ilan have been friends since the first grade. Despite being banned from being in the same class ever again, their friendship persisted. Similar sounding names are not the only thing they have in common. Starting at an early age, Ilan strictly enforced the "don't come over my house without an instrument" rule. From their first "gig" at the fifth grade talent show, to Strokes cover sets at the Court Tavern, Ilan has been an awesome jam partner and a better friend. Ian is thrilled to have him stand up next to him as his best man (hopefully without Scott's assistance this time).

Adelia Sabintsev

Bridesmaid

Adelia met Caitlin in 8th grade English class, when Caitlin spontaneously handed Adelia a piece of candy on Valentine's Day. Since then, they've been a huge part of each other's lives, from navigating teen years (which included hours of deep conversations over chocolate milk at the Miller/Nappy house and obsessing over Diego Luna), to graduating and heading off to college, exploring the world, reaching milestones, adding new family members, and inspiring and celebrating each other, no matter the distance. The fact that Caitlin and Adelia have remained so close for over 15 years is incredibly special. Adelia is thrilled that Caitlin met someone as wonderful, warm, and likable as Ian to be her partner for life. Adelia is so happy for Caitlin and Ian and can't wait to celebrate!

Jon Stein

Groomsman

Most of Ian's best memories of his friendship with Jon are not fit for a public forum. While "Team Classic" has been kicking Tokash's butt in beer pong since before Ian and Jon could legally drink beer, Jon and Ian make a great team in more than just drinking. A.C. trips, golf, frisbee, and more, Jon has been Ian's partner in crime since Ian had a Jew-fro.

David Zandi

Bridesman

Caitlin and David go back over 11 years to their semester abroad in Italy. After traveling the world, coaching each other through law school, and countless birthdays, Halloweens, and New Years spent together, they can’t imagine what life would be like without each other. David hopes that he and Caitlin get to spend 50 more years in NYC together, as tempting as it may be for Caitlin to move back to exotic places like Newark and Detroit.

Mike Tokash

Groomsman

Mike and Ian have been friends since the first day of kindergarten. They met at the bus stop, and having been rocking out since then. From band practice in Ian's living room to the famous Stone Pony, Mike has been a great drummer and better friend.

Ellie Rubin

Bridesmaid

According to Ellie, she and Caitlin first met upon arrival at their flat at the start of their study abroad semester at NYU in Florence and Caitlin's first words to Ellie were "Hi, can I take your picture?" According to Caitlin, she had already met Ellie the previous year at their NYU freshman dorm, Rubin Hall, when Ellie was beasting some poor soul at ping-pong. Regardless of the actual date and time of their first rendezvous, Big Eazy and Big Red have remained amazing friends since. Ellie is very excited to be a part of Caitlin and Ian's big day, just as Caitlin was in Ellie's recent wedding to her husband, Eddie.

Alex Kacar

Groomsman

Ian is truly thankful that Alex didn't screw up the guitar solo in Buddy Holly when they played in their Weezer cover band, because they might not be friends today if he did. From the Quantum Mechanics to the Grey Americans, Alex and Ian have played in many terribly named bands. As they got older, Alex picked up a new hobby - beating Ian in golf. Ian is looking forward to many more rounds, jam sessions, and hopefully a win one of these days.

Megan Liberty

Bridesmaid

Megan is Ian’s little big sister. She put up with her bro for 30+ years, and is more than happy to hand over the responsibility to Caitlin. Megan is also thrilled to be gaining a sister! She can't wait to be a part of Caitlin and Ian's wedding party and will probably be on the dance floor most of the night.

Harry Datkowitz

Groomsman

Ian and Harry first bonded over their great Jew fros (Ian's was better). As they matured, they bonded over their great beards (Harry's was better). From the countless hours spent jamming and recording music in Harry's garage - including an ill-advised Jay-Z cover that will hopefully never see the light of day, to ultimate Frisbee in the high school parking lot, Harry and Ian have a lifetime of fun memories. Despite not living in the same state since high school, Ian and Harry have managed to keep their friendship strong, and Ian's thrilled to have Harry help him celebrate this day.

Sindhu Raghunandan

Bridesmaid

Caitlin and Sindhu met when Sindhu was the new kid on the block at Julius West Middle School. They first became friends over an English lesson about Amish people. Their friendship was forged, as many good ones are, through discussions about Captain Jack Sparrow, field trips to the Gettysburg Battlefield, the joyous blur that is college, and Serial Podcast theories. Even after knowing each other for more than 15 years, Caitlin is still one of the most fiercely loyal, highly passionate, truly badass friends a girl could ever ask for! Sindhu is beyond thrilled to be celebrating Caitlin and Ian as they start this amazing new chapter and hope that it brings them all the best adventures!

Nick Christie

Groomsman

From playing fast break basketball, to going to punk shows, to brewing beer, Ian and Nick's shared interests have matured over the years. Then again, Nick now coaches fast break basketball, and they still love punk shows and beer. So maybe not much has changed, after all. Ian and Nick survived sleeping in a packed sweaty car at Firefly and a packed sweaty tent in Israel. Ian's looking forward to many more fun adventures with Nick, hopefully with air conditioning.

Anna McCreight

Bridesmaid

Anna has had the joy of knowing Caitlin since elementary school. From pretending to work for NASA in Caitlin's basement as kids, to watching movies like The Emperor’s New Groove and Liar Liar way too many times (or just enough?), to playing basketball together in high school, and traveling to Honduras together for a summer in college, we‘ve certainly grown up together and share many a memory that they both cherish. It was through Caitlin's time at NYU that Anna first got put on to the magic of New York, and now, she gets to share the delights of city-living with Caitlin AND Ian, and can’t wait to celebrate them in October!

Mike Affrunti

Groomsman

Calling Affrunti "Ian's law school roommate" doesn't do justice to their relationship. Ian doesn't know of anyone else who could get away with blasting Taylor Swift songs under Ian's bedroom door at 4am. From drunken Hurricane Sandy jam sessions, to randomly shouting "Billy!" for no apparent reason, Ian learned quickly that there is no one quite like Mike Affrunti.

Rachel VanLancker

Bridesmaid

Commonly known as Peppermint Patti and Schroeder, respectively, Caitlin and Rachel got their start in the Miller/Nappy kitchen, filming themselves baking Ghiradelli fudge brownies. Although their cooking careers never took off, they were later offered full time coaching jobs with the MLB, based off of their performance in Backyard Baseball. The MLB quickly retracted the offer when it was discovered that 1) Caitlin and Rachel were not, in fact, adults, and 2) their success was attributed to a CD-ROM computer game. Caitlin and Rachel have since shared many happy memories, from prank calling dating hotlines on Alice and Jonathan’s land line, to crashing into wind surfers at sailing camp. Caitlin is excited and thrilled that Rachel is joining her at her wedding as bridesmaid.

Dylan Aluise

Officiant

Since 1989, when their close friendship began, Dylan has always looked up to - or rather, at - Caitlin. Memories of their summers together at Bethany Beach always bring a smile to Dylan's face, including adventures to buy Boardwalk Fries, looking at Caitlin's sunburns, and afternoons spent at Lion King Park. Though they have been friends for over 30 years, Caitlin and Dylan have pursued very different paths in life. While Caitlin followed her dreams to become an impactful litigator living in the Big Apple, Dylan became an ordained minister who spends his days tending to his congregational flock. He is honored to preside over Caitlin and Ian's wedding, and is only chafed that he couldn't have done it last year because of the pandemic.
