Things To Do

Mystic sits between Groton and Stonington, CT and is known for its quintessential New England charm. We've compiled some of our favorite places for our out of town guests. This is just a starting point- the area is rich with maritime and American history, local art, nature preserves, breweries, vineyards, and more!
Mystic Seaport Museum

Mystic Seaport Museum

75 Greenmanville Avenue, Stonington, CT 06355

Get a dose of Mystic's whaling history! This activity requires lots of walking, but is handicap accessible.

Sift Bake Shop Mystic

Sift Bake Shop Mystic

5 Water Street, Groton, CT 06355

Sift has national notoriety for their baked goods and serves the best coffee in downtown Mystic. Matt and Caitlin favor the cookies. Sift also has a covered upstairs bar (Mix) and restaurant that overlooks the Mystic river.

The Velvet Mill

The Velvet Mill

22 Bayview Avenue, Stonington, CT 06378

The Velvet Mill in Stonington is a large indoor space with shopping, artist studios, restaurants, and more! A great place to walk around and explore on rainy days. Our favorites: Zest Bakery (best gluten free options locally), White Crest Eatery, Plants by the Pool, Fun and Funky vintage shop

Mystic Aquarium

Mystic Aquarium

55 Coogan Boulevard, Stonington, CT 06355

Best known for their Beluga whales, Mystic Aquarium is a great daytime activity. The Aquarium is next to Olde Mystick Village, an eclectic outdoor mall with local stores and restaurants.

The Port of Call

The Port of Call

15 Water Street, Groton, CT 06355

One of our favorite date nights in Mystic. Port of Call was named one of the best bars in America in 2022 by Esquire Magazine. Matt recommends the drink Curry Barbados, and Caitlin recommends the La Jardinerx.

Noah's

113 Water Street, Stonington, CT 06378

Noah's is located in beautiful Stonington Borough, which gets less tourist traffic than Mystic. Noah's is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner- just be sure to walk around the borough before or after your meal! Checkout Noah's iconic mural, leftover from the filming of Hope Springs starring Meryl Streep (her mom was a Mason's Island resident!).

The Cafe

3 Canal Street, Westerly, RI 02891

Headed to Westerly to see Taylor Swift's iconic beach home? Hit The Cafe for dinner- it's quickly become a local staple.

Kitchen Little

36 Quarry Road, Stonington, CT 06355

Have breakfast in Mason's Island marina!! Get there early- there's usually a crowd. Take the chance to drive or walk through Masons and Enders Island.

Enders Island

Stonington, CT 06355

Enders Island is an 11-acre island located within the town of Stonington, its sole inhabitants operate a retreat center and art school owned by the Catholic Society of Saint Edmund. The Island is available to the public, with a chapel, surrounding views of the Atlantic, walking paths with flower gardens. As you drive over the causeway onto the island, park at the lot immediately to the left (free).
