Yes! We will marry on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Many of our guests will travel from out of state and we hope they will make it a vacation and spend Tuesday and Wednesday at The HideOut with us.
The Ceremony will start at 4:00 PM but please note getting to the venue is an adventure. Once you turn off the highway you will be drive on a dirt road for 10-15 minutes. We recommend that you arrive around 3:30 PM to make sure we can get the party started on schedule.
Yes, we love your little ones, and they are welcome at all festivities.
Dogs are not allowed at the venue on the day of the wedding. Only Watson, the fur baby of the bride and groom will attend. This is to ensure there isn’t too much small talk during the wedding.
Unfortunately, we will be in the middle of nowhere and Lyft and uber are not readily available. I would highly recommend renting a car if you are coming from out of state. If you need a ride from your accommodations to the venue, please let us know and we will be happy to assist.
Yes, the venue has dedicated parking to the right of barn after following the road to the venue.
On Tuesday, immediately following the ceremony we will provide a cocktail hour with hor d'oeuvres. Later, during the reception, we will serve an open bar and a buffet dinner that includes a vegetarian option. If you have strict dietary needs, please let us know so we can check our menu for you. On Wednesday, we will provide drinks (lemonade, iced tea, and beer), lunch (burgers, hotdogs, sides) and dinner (make your own tacos). If you have any special dietary restrictions or something special you prefer to drink, please bring it along. There will be refrigerators and grills for your use. For all other meals, there are a few choices for dining out: Kirkwood Inn and Saloon was built in 1864 and is designated a California Historical Landmark. Located at Highway 88 and Carson’s Pass, it is open daily from 11AM to 7 PM. Kit Carson Lodge Restaurant (5.4 miles south of Kirkwood Mountain Resort on Highway 88) offers a full breakfast from 7 AM to 10 AM, lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM and dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM. Thunder Mountain Restaurant at Plasse’s Resort (7.7 miles south of Kirkwood Mountain Resort on Highway 88) offers lunch and dinner. Please call (209)258-8814 to confirm operating hours. Plasse’s Resort General Store is open daily. Payless Market is 28 miles south of The HideOut on Highway 88 in Pioneer. Safeway is 33 miles from The HideOut in Pollock Pines.
We realize everyone has a different priority when it comes to diet restrictions. We are working hard to make sure we have options available for all guests at our reception. If you have strict dietary needs, please let us know so we can check our menu for you. If our menu for Wednesday does not suit your needs, please bring your own food. There will be refrigerators and grills for your use.
The Hideout is STUNNING, and we'd love for you to join us on the day after the ceremony for some woodland adventures. There are 40 acres of pure magic to explore, a private lake, a stone hot tub and games galore. If you would like to hike, bring your hiking shoes. You may wish to bring sunscreen and bug spray. If you like to swim or soak in the hot tub, bring a bathing suit, a towel, and a floatie. Feel free to bring your paddle board. We will provide fishing gear. For the nighttime, we recommend you bring a warm jacket.
It will be warm in the day (80°) and cool at night (50°). Both the ceremony and reception will be outdoors. Rain is unlikely. The dress code for the ceremony and reception on Tuesday is Mountain Dressy. The ceremony will be in the grass and there will be gravel and dirt areas. Please choose footwear accordingly. You might like a jacket or sweater for the evening. The dress code for the picnic on Wednesday is Mountain Casual.
There is limited Wi-Fi in the Saloon. Please do not depend on Wi-Fi in the surrounding area. The Bride and Groom will likely be the only ones on the wifi to answer any day of questions. There is also a landline in the Saloon.
Yes! We would love for you to take photos at our reception and share. Make sure to use the hashtag #C+M2023 Please refrain from taking photos or video during the ceremony.
The name really says it all – a table full of cookies! Linked mainly to European immigrants of Catholic descent, the "cookie table" tradition is said to have become popularized during the Great Depression. It's now mostly found at weddings in Western PA, West Virginia, and Eastern Ohio where Caitlin's paternal family originates. We invite you to join us in this family tradition and bring some of your favorite cookies to share at the reception. If you choose to, please bring your cookies in a plastic bag or disposable container. There will be a sign when you arrive indicating where you can leave them. A family member will take them and display them on the cookie table for the reception.
Text messages and phone calls preferred. However, be aware from july 10th-13th we will be out of cell range.
Cocktail attire. LBD, Maxi dresses, jumpsuits, button down and slacks, or button down and jeans are all welcome. It is rustic and mostly gravel/mulch so if you are going to wear a heel I would suggest a block or wedge, no stilettos. We will be at about 7000 feet and the reception and ceremony are all outdoors. So while it may be 70s-80s during the day it could drop to 50s-60s at night so plan accordingly.
