With both of us born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, it took us 20 years to find our way to one another in this relatively small town. We first connected during the long winter of 2020 after realizing we had a few mutual friends and many common interests. Our first date was at the Service High School (Caitlin's Alma Mater) outdoor ice rink for a skate date. While the weather was below zero, there was definitely a spark between us! Still relatively new to one another, we waited for the following summer when we both came back home to really get to know one another before we made it official on July 7th, 2021! Conveniently, we both went to college in Washington state just 2.5 hours apart, so we continued to nurture our relationship doing "mid-distance" while at school and traveling home for breaks together. We transitioned to long-distance as Caitlin graduated and moved home, whereas John finished his senior year of college at Gonzaga. John gladly moved home to Anchorage after graduating and we have since been enjoying our lives together, building careers, making a home and raising our dog, Limoncello, together. After 4 years of dating, John finally popped the question. He had planned a wonderful proposal at popular overlook of the ocean and mountains where we had one of our first few dates!
