The Wedding Website of Caitlin Andrew and John Soltau
Whether you're making a weekend out of it or just looking for a comfy place to crash after the big day, we've got you covered! San Antonio and the Hill Country have plenty of great spots to stay—each with its own vibe, views, and perks. We've rounded up a few of our favorite areas to help you pick what fits your travel style. From river strolls downtown to starry nights in the hills, there’s something for everyone.

Travel Note

Downtown / River Walk / King William

Vibe: Historic, lively, and very walkable. Great for first-time visitors who want to experience San Antonio’s iconic charm. What’s Nearby: The River Walk (dining, boat tours, nightlife) The Alamo Historic Market Square King William Historic District (tree-lined streets, 19th-century homes, boutique shopping) Walkability: Excellent. Most attractions, shops, and restaurants are within walking distance. Cost of Lodging: Moderate to high, especially along the River Walk. Safety: Generally safe in tourist areas; as with any downtown, be aware at night in less crowded areas. Drive Time to Venue: ~45 minutes.

Travel Note

The Rim / La Cantera Area

Vibe: Newer, upscale shopping and dining hub. Good for travelers who prefer modern hotels and easy parking. What’s Nearby: The Rim shopping center (stores, restaurants, entertainment) The Shops at La Cantera (open-air mall) Six Flags Fiesta Texas Walkability: Fair. Walkable within shopping centers but spread out overall. Cost of Lodging: Moderate to high, with many national hotel chains and resorts. Safety: Very safe; mostly commercial and residential areas. Drive Time to Venue: ~30–35 minutes.

Travel Note

Bergheim / Fair Oaks Ranch / North Boerne

Vibe: Quiet, semi-rural Hill Country surroundings with peaceful views. Best for those who want to be close to the venue and enjoy nature. What’s Nearby: Local wineries, scenic drives, and Hill Country relaxation Limited restaurants and shops, but Boerne and San Antonio are a short drive away Walkability: Limited. This area is best navigated by car. Cost of Lodging: Moderate. Fewer hotels—expect ranch-style stays, B&Bs, and Airbnbs. Safety: Very safe and quiet. Drive Time to Venue: 5–10 minutes.

Travel Note

Boerne (Downtown Area)

Vibe: Charming small-town with a walkable historic district, cute boutiques, and local flavor. Great balance of character and convenience. What’s Nearby: Hill Country Mile (shops, restaurants, cafes) Cibolo Nature Center & local parks Breweries and wine bars Walkability: Very good in the downtown district. Cost of Lodging: Moderate, with several boutique hotels and local inns. Safety: Very safe and family-friendly. Drive Time to Venue: ~15–20 minutes.
