How We Met

Wedding (kettle)bells are ringing.

Caitlin and Todd's story began as all LA love stories do: in a high-end kettlebell class. For months, they worked out alongside each other until Todd finally asked Caitlin out, which was a small miracle given that he'd only known her as her sweatiest, grossest self. And even after Caitlin rebuffed his offers to take her out in a misguided effort to appear mysterious to the cute kettlebell guy instead of just permanently sweaty -- he nonetheless persisted. However, it wasn't until Todd -- in his typical direct way -- told Caitlin after the sixth time he asked her out that it would be his last attempt that Caitlin finally relented, sensing that she'd met her equal. And their journey officially began. Three years, seven vacations, and many tiki drinks later, they are ready for the next step in their relationship and are excited to see where it takes them. They've weathered both good times and bad, and through it all have proven to be a perfect match for each other (the fact that Todd recently got Caitlin a portable dance floor for her to tap dance on in their one bedroom apartment proves this). At the threshold of this new chapter in their lives, they know that many unknowns await them. But they also know they'll always have each other. And kettlebell class.

How He Proposed

It all started with a crab.

To understand the story of Caitlin and Todd's proposal, first you have to know about the crab. It started when Caitlin and Todd were walking along the beach collecting shells while on vacation in the Bahamas. Afterward, they returned to the hotel pool with their haul. Upon examining it, Caitlin noticed that one of her shells was particularly stinky. While most people would've stopped sniffing something that smelled bad, Caitlin kept smelling it... until a hermit crab popped out and caused her to shriek in surprise. Having heard her, a kindly woman nearby jumped up and started taking pictures of a bewildered Todd and stank-faced Caitlin, assuming that Todd had proposed. It was then that Caitlin had to explain that no, nobody had proposed to her... she'd just smelled a crab. Years later on a vacation to Mexico, Todd decided to incorporate the crustacean-inspired event into his proposal. He took Caitlin for a walk on the beach where he offered her a shell... this time with a ring inside. Caitlin, admittedly a bit cagey about accepting the shell given her previous experience, nonetheless eagerly accepted when she realized that the contents of this shell were more diamond than mollusk. And thus the newest chapter in their relationship began. And it all started with a crab.
