Charles and Caitie met for the first time in Spring of 2013, in the lobby of Lamb’s Players Theatre in Coronado. She was monitoring an open call for a production of Fiddler on the Roof, and he had come to audition. But Caitie doesn’t remember that... What Caitie does remember is the callback, where she and Charles read opposite each other for the romantic roles of Hodel and Perchik. The read was easy and natural, and at the end of the night they expressed a mutual hope to work together. They must have had pretty good chemistry, because they both booked the show, and proceeded to run off to Siberia about a hundred times over the next several months. Off-stage, Caitie and Charles had a lovely friendship. They were happy to be able to work together again the following summer, playing Viola and Sebastian, the shipwrecked twins in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. They continued to get along splendidly, doing crossword puzzles during breaks between shows, and enjoying the occasional night out with mutual pals. It wasn’t until September of 2014 that romance crept up on them. They realized with happy surprise that their friendship was blossoming into something else. Charles asked Caitie to join him for a Paul McCartney concert at Petco Park in downtown San Diego. The evening was sealed with a kiss, and they have been a smoochy pair since!
