How We Met

Miranda & her "boys"

We met through mutual friends in the spring of 2014 and didn't think much of it. Miranda would hang out with Tyler's buddies from high school at the house they rented in Sioux Falls. Tyler even tried to date one of Miranda's other friends! Pretty soon there was a clear favorite out of all "the guys". Miranda was even willing to cook enchiladas for the crew, and sacrifice her favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream to substitute for Tyler's favorite cookies n' cream. It also helped Tyler was willing to watch endless marathons of Dexter.

The Proposal

I don't want you to be a miss anymore.

It was so important to us that we entered marriage as a team. When we started talking about if we'd ever get married (after about 2 years of dating, we both knew we would...duh!), Tyler didn't quite know how to manage money very well. After realizing how expensive Miranda's taste was in rings, we both saved for more than 6 months to purchase the ring we picked out together. Fast forward to February 2019, we were road tripping to Denver, CO to see a Miami Heat basketball game. Around this time, Miranda knew the proposal should be coming sometime soon, that the ring should be paid off in the near future, but didn't know it'd be THAT soon. We stayed the night in Sterling, CO and Miranda asked Tyler for something out of his suitcase, he told her to just go get it. "Oh! You must not be proposing this weekend since you're letting me dig in your bag!", Miranda chirped. The next day we met our friend Kaitlynn, who lives in the Denver area, for lunch. On our way over there Miranda mused out loud, "You know what would be cool? If I didn't think you were gonna propose to me but you actually did!". After a late lunch, Kaitlynn and Tyler argued with Miranda about what we should do next. Miranda wanted to get all our luggage out of the car, and Tyler wanted to go exploring. We compromised by taking a short walk to see some street art the RiNo district is known for. Tyler and Kaitlynn found a wizard-dwarf looking character to take our picture in front of. After the first snap, Miranda turned her head to see Tyler down on one knee, in the snow, on an abandoned railroad track, in front of this goofy wizard-dwarf. "I talked to your Dad, and I want you to be my Mrs.", Tyler said, "Will you marry me?". I don't think any of us had to wait for the yes. It was a long-anticipated and dreamt about moment. We cried a little, hugged, and treated ourselves to some fancy cocktails in the middle of the beautiful RiNo Downtown Denver art district.
