We booked a nice hotel and restaurant for us on new year's eve. Life was going to be a bit busy the next few months so we had told ourselves that this was the last nice thing we would do for a while. Typically, new year's was spent with family but Cain convinced me that this would be best since most of my family would be out of town and his family would not mind if we spent this one holiday together. In retrospect, there were some things here and there that were a bit suspect but we had both been stressed and life was hard with Covid feeling neverending. As he handed me the key to the hotel room all I was expecting was a beautiful view of the fireworks at our window. I quickly saw the trail of candles and rose petals leading to the balloon sign that read "Marry me." The countdown to midnight began on and Cain popped the question. As the fireworks hit the sky I said yes! A happy new year for a happy new chapter in our lives. Pop, Fizzle, Clink! We are tying the knot!
