The Wedding Website of Lizzie Mara and Cactus Douglas
Howdy Partners! Keep your questions coming. You’re helping us answer them for everyone. We are indeed sending paper invitations. Please reference this for certain specifics that one would typically have for a celebration of marriage. Thanks for sharing your snail mail addresses earlier to be sure you receive this. We know this is quite a journey for some of you and that Salida, Colorado is a ways from the closest airports. Thanks for being up for the adventure! We’re thrilled to share the whole Chaffee County area with you as it’s a magical place in the summertime if you love playing in the outdoors! Biking, hiking, rafting, SUPing, rock climbing, rockhounding, hot springs soaking, horseback riding, wilderness exploring FUN! Dive into the tab listed here called “Round Up Some Fun” and you might find something new to experience while you’re here! 🤍
Question

Do we need to book a hotel so early?

Answer

As of January, 2025, we’ve heard that rooms are already filling up for August. 🤍🤍 If you want to stay over at the ranch, the cost is $45 for RV or tent. We’ll be staying that night in our van.

Question

Will there be shuttles to get to the big party on Saturday, Aug. 2?

Answer

Yes! See the list of shuttles leaving from Buena Vista, Salida, and Nathrop on the “Get Some Shut Eye” tab. Listed under all the hotel’s & homes are shuttles. ***Please double check the times listed on the weekend of the event as the drivers may request an updated schedule. As with many things in the mountains, we may need to have patience with the shuttle drivers. So we’re allowing a little extra time before our “ceremony” begins for all of you to arrive during the welcome reception.

Question

Will there be a “wedding ceremony”?

Answer

So many of you have asked this, so we’ll answer it here. Yes, there will be a casual ceremony, however not in the traditional sense—we’ll have an opportunity to gather everyone together shortly after we all arrive to share our love and commitment to one another with all of you.

Question

Will it be hot?

Answer

Likely! We have some activities outside and some planned for inside. But as the sun sets the mountain air will bring down the temps quickly. Watch the forecast and plan accordingly. As with all Colorado days, the weather can change on a dime, so bring layers for all possibilities of wind, rain, and heat. Do remember your hats & SPF.

Question

Should we stay in Salida, Nathrop, or BV?

Answer

All are awesome. Most of our friends in the area live in Salida. You can wander around town enjoying the shops, cafes and parks all day and not run out of things to see or do. Buena Vista is more quaint & the people are very kind. The Surf Hotel & the other hotels listed on the “Get Some Shut Eye” tab are so charming. Nathrop is great with the hot springs and access to so many trails. The Colorado Trail runs through Nathrop, so you’ll possibly see overnight backpackers making their journey. We love the whole county and hope you will too. You can’t go wrong choosing where to stay.

Question

Are children invited? Or should we leave the kiddos at home for the night?

Answer

Your official invitation (paper via snail mail) will list who is invited—as casual as this event is, we are NOT including all of our friends’ and family’s children. As much as we love all your children; we cannot have them all join us. We’d be in trouble deep for the “capacity” at the Ranch. 🤍🤍🤍 Let us know if you need help finding a babysitter.
