We met on a dating site. Crazy, right? Our intentions were NOT to get into a relationship. We were texting, and I took FOREVER to respond to Byron. You want to know what set our relationship off? A talk about all the different types of apples. Byron didn’t know there were different types he just thought there were red and green ones. Shortly after that, we hung out for the first time after I did a background check on Byron. We watched the conjuring and ordered pizza (Byron fell asleep during the movie). Two weeks later Byron was helping my mom and I move into my new apartment. Our first date was at the Ocean View Pier. Very, very soon after that we started dating on August 3, 2021.

I knew after a few months, I wanted to spend my life with Byron which meant sending him my Pinterest board of the rings I liked. Clearly, he felt the same. We had traveled to mom and dads in Grottoes for Thanksgiving. Something I thought was just going to be another Thanksgiving with tons of food, football, card games, and beer turned into my yes day! We were taking family pictures outside prior to dinner and mom came up to me FREAKING out about something in her eye. I kept telling her that I didn’t see anything and if you know Byron, he feels like he can fix ANYTHING. He came behind me to “look” in her eye and she just stepped away. I was confused, went to ask Byron what the heck was wrong with her, and he was down on one knee. I was so shocked. I ugly cried. Byron had contacted my dad a few months prior and asked if he could have my hand in marriage. Dad was wondering when he was going to ask and he even got a little emotional and told Byron to get off his phone before he makes him cry. Byron DID NOT tell my mom until the week we were heading up to their house because he felt like she was going to slip up and tell me. Peanut, Byron’s Aunt, kept my ring safe and he hid it in his game bag because he knew I wouldn’t look in there!
