Dana and Byron met one fateful evening thanks to the matchmaking prowess of their good friend Marissa. After a small gathering at Marissa's place, the group headed out for a night of dancing. Having shared the experiences of living in Europe and teaching English, Byron and Dana had immediate chemistry. With busy schedules and lots of homework, however, the two did not meet up again for a few weeks. Dana had all but given up on Byron when he surprised her with a phone call asking her on a date. She accepted and the two hit it off over lobster rolls and tasty cocktails! They have been inseparable ever since.

Almost exactly five years after they first met, Byron proposed to Dana on the Esplanade, a picturesque park in Boston along the Charles River. It was a perfect day. Dana thought the two were just heading to the 'nade for a picnic, so she spent the first few minutes regaling Byron with riveting tales from the legal profession. Byron waited anxiously for the perfect moment to interject and read her a letter he had written. When the moment arose, Byron read his letter and the two shared a teary embrace while several passersby cheered. One stopped to snap a photo, saying "Lovely day for a proposal!".
