In the summer of 2017, I was home from college and attended a family friends college graduation party with my family and Garrett attended with his dad. Now some background knowledge, Garrett and I knew of each other and followed each other on social media prior to meeting at this graduation party. When Garrett showed up to this graduation party I instantly looked at my mom and whispered, "OMG that is Garrett Byrd" - imagine that there is emphasis on his name. My mom then made the decision to be my wing woman and go talk to Garrett on my behalf, even though I highly encouraged her not to. Although my mom put in a lot of work to tell Garrett about how lovely of an young woman I am, Garrett decided that that evening was not the best time to introduce himself to me and that he would wait for a better time. I know, very sad. Three weeks later, I had given up on the idea of Garrett reaching out to me when suddenly he did. Being in the digital age that we are in, Garrett slid into my DMs on Twitter. To quote Garrett exactly he said, "I know I don't really know you, but after the other night at that grad party and getting to talk to your mom about you, I'd like to get together and get to know you a little better". After a day of talking, we decided to go on a date together. On the evening of May 31, 2017, Garrett picked me up and we went on our first date to Cope Environmental Center where we walked around and got to know each other better. We continued to fall madly in love that summer and were almost inseparable. Since the summer of 2017, we have added our dog Zeus to our family and have continued to enjoy walks at Cope Environmental Center through getting engaged there, and spending anniversaries there. Although we are unable to get married at Cope Environmental Center, we are super excited to share the next chapter in our love story with you all!
