How We Met in 2014

Taking each other's breath away

We met at Watson's Martial Arts in a Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu class. Brandon walked up to Andrea and asked if she wanted to be partners. Brandon is 6 foot and Andrea is 5' 6' but Andrea thought he was cute so she said okay. We got to know each other in that hour as we were practicing collar chokes; around 3 chokes a minute for an hour. It went a little like this: Andrea: So how long have you been training BJJ? Brandon: Around *choke* *cough* 5-6 years

Our First Date

Makin' our way downtown

We were talking for a few weeks and Brandon asked Andrea if she wanted to go out on a date. Brandon was late *shocker*. Andrea was a cheap date - we walked around downtown St. Louis for hours talking and having an amazing time getting to know each other. We walked past America's Center Convention Complex and saw that there was an event that evening. We then stumbled across an African-American Church Convention and had a great time meeting new people, learning a different culture, and buying souvenirs to remember our first date. We then went over to Andrea's sister's place after and this is one of Brandon's favorite story so he will most likely tell everyone at the wedding.

House of 5

2015

Peanut arrived in America in the Summer of 2015. We then adopted Cuddles a couple of months after in hopes that Peanut would have a friend at home while we were at work/school. In the following Winter, Brandon called Andrea and told her about a little kitten left out in the cold in a garage. He asked if we could take the little kitty into a warm home while we figure out what to do from there. Andrea and Brandon took him in and 5 years later, he's still with us! The 5 of us lived happily together in a 450 sq. ft. apartment.

First trip to Asia together!

West meets East

We traveled to Malaysia, Japan, and Thailand in 2016 and ate all the food. The end.

Tans meeting Busbys

"Uhhh..."

In the Winter of 2017, our families finally met each other as Andrea's parents were in St. Louis visiting from Malaysia. We hosted a dinner in our new apartment (that was more than 450 sq. ft.) and invited both of our families. As a joke, Brandon suggested to Andrea's mother to speak in a foreign language and pretend not to speak English when she first met Brandon's dad and uncle. Andrea's mom spontaneously agreed and got into character as she bowed and spoke to them in Cantonese. Brandon's family were not expecting that as they bowed back and confusingly looked at each other not knowing how to react. That's when Brandon's uncle responded with a prolonged "Uhhhh..." as he figured out how the rest of the night was going to go. We laughed hysterically as Andrea's mom then spoke English to which a sigh of relief was heard. Then we ate.

Moving to Chicago

Bye Lou

We moved to Chicago after Andrea got accepted into a graduate program for a PsyD in Clinical Psychology. We were very happy as we both really liked the idea of living in Chicago and have casually talked about living in Chicago when we visited a few years prior. We were especially excited about all of the new food we could explore and eat!

The proposal

Will you marry me?

Brandon proposed and we got a video of it. It's on FaceBook.
