One night, MacKenzie and Cody were most likely sitting on their own couches, in sweatpants and eating cold pizza, while swiping aimlessly left or right on pictures of potential suitors. Luckily, they both swiped right on each other prompting a match. After a MONTH (yes, a month) of exchanging slightly awkward texts, Cody finally mustered up the courage to ask MacKenzie out on a date. The plans were to meet at Brick & Porter at 8pm. Cody showed up on time, most likely early, while MacKenzie casually strolled in 15 minutes late after driving around all of Grand Rapids to find a parking spot. Tardiness aside, MacKenzie and Cody talked for 3 hours and were immediately smitten. The rest is history.

One weekend, Cody and MacKenzie drove up to Traverse City for a little R&R. After spending Friday night hanging with Jeff and Jules, they decided to venture out on their own on Saturday. They did the typical touristy things like driving along M22 and stopping at Hop Lot and a few wineries. Cody apparently needed some liquid courage. The last stop was to hike Pyramid Point. Cody had a poker face the entire hike, so MacKenzie had no idea what was waiting for her at the top. After reaching their destination and taking in the views, Cody got down on one knee and asked MacKenzie to spend the rest of her life with him. MacKenzie was so shocked, all she could say was "shut up, shut up, shut up" over and over again. Once she processed, she enthusiastically said "yes"! The surprise didn't end there. After Cody and MacKenzie went out for a celebratory dinner, he took her up to the Top of the Park Place Hotel, where their parents were waiting to celebrate their engagement! A long night of drinks, dancing, and celebration followed.
