When should I RSVP?

Answer

Although a formal invitation will be sent out, the option to RSVP is open now. We ask that you RSVP as soon as possible to ensure that if you cannot make the trek, we can extend the invitation to another loved one.

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

Calgary International Airport is the closest airport to Canmore. It’s about an hour and a half scenic drive to Canmore.

How do I get from the airport to Canmore?

Answer

Due to our guests traveling in from different locations and on different days we are unable to accommodate a shuttle from the airport to The Malcolm. You are able to either rent a car, or there is the option of using the public transportation to get from the airport to Canmore!

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Our ceremony will be taking place at The Malcolm Hotel, guests that are attending receive a 20% discount when booking online through this link malcolhotel.ca and using the code 2505HUGH or when calling to book your room 403.812.0680 please inform them you are coming for the Burnett Hughes wedding and reference the discount code. This code is not able to be combined with any other discounts the hotel is running at the time of booking. Make sure to book your room as soon as possible if staying at the Malcolm, they fill up quickly! If you would like to stay elsewhere, there are VRBO's, Airbnb's, and other hotels in the area.

How much will it cost to travel to Canmore?

Flights range in pricing depending upon which airport you are flying out of, on average round trip flights start around $500 per person.

How long should I stay?

Answer

That’s up to you! Our wedding will take place on Friday May 2, 2025. We ask that you arrive at least one day in advance so that you are well rested to enjoy the special day. Other than that, you can use this as an opportunity to take a well deserved vacation or you can make it a short and sweet trip to be with us on our special day. There are many hiking opportunities in and around Canmore including Banff National Park. For the golfers, there are a few golf courses close if weather permits! We want our loved ones to make this trip theirs along with attending our special day.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Due to the fact that we will have our closest family and friends with us, we want to take this opportunity to dress up, feel fancy, and celebrate! We are asking that you dress in black tie for this occasion. Our ceremony and cocktail hour will be held on the rooftop. Please keep in mind that weather can vary from moderate to cool quickly in May, so be prepared! What about the after party you ask? Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in! If you want to stay dressed up, great! If you wanna throw on jeans and boots, that's fine too! The Drake is a pub style bar and is super relaxed!

Should I get cash out so I have Canadian money?

Answer

In our experience, that is totally up to you. Every place we went to takes debit or credit cards and you can add tip to your servers that way! There is an atm located in the hotel lobby close to the Sterling restaurant.

What's the weather going to be like?

Answer

When we visited in April 2024, the weather was mostly sunny with random snow storms that only lasted a few minutes! The mornings are very chilly, in the low to mid teens. During the day, it was sunny and felt like 60 degrees! Packing for all weather (especially if you plan on hiking at high altitudes) is a good idea!
