On what would have otherwise been an ordinary Monday night bible study, became a life-altering moment when Amy and Nathan met for the first time. At the time, Amy was social chair for her bible study and recently planned a get-together with church friends after service that upcoming Sunday to check out a Chicago event. When Nate reached out to strike up conversation after joining bible study, Amy invited Nate thinking it was a perfect opportunity for everyone to get to know him better. As fate had it, everyone else had conflicts arise, leaving only Nate and Amy to attend. Not wanting to cancel on the “new guy,” Amy asked Nate to join her anyways. After lunch at Shake Shack, the pop-up event at Union Station and six and a half hours of walking, talking and laughing… the accidental “date-not-date” would mark the beginning Nathan & Amy’s story. Nate asked Amy out on an intentional date that later that week: Thursday Night Football to watch the Baltimore Ravens play at a nearby neighborhood bar. Another six-hour date where the hours felt like minutes, and a Ravens win later, Amy noticed that Nate didn’t watch a single play of the game. Two weeks later, after seeing each other almost every day, Amy encouraged/pushed/asked Nate to ask her to be his girlfriend. Luckily for her, on November 4th, 2017, Nate did just that.
Since then, their lives have been filled with some incredibly amazing moments, and many difficult ones too. They both learned quickly two very important things: that together, the good moments were incredible, and the hard moments were less hard. You can often find them exploring Chicago, traveling to a new city or country, watching a sports game, spending time with friends and family, or going to church. Wherever they are and regardless of what they’re doing, one thing’s for certain: they’re laughing, living fully and eternally giddy they found each other. Amy knew after two weeks of dating Nathan that he was her future husband. After six months of dating (and a lot of patience from Amy) Nathan told Amy he loved her. Amy sensed it then that Nathan was telling her he’d love her forever. On July 3rd, 2019 she knew that was true when Nate proposed in Paris.
