The Wedding

December 31, 2019

We joyfully request the pleasure of your company as we join in marriage in the presence of our dearest family and friends. Lexington is where we first met and where our relationship has been rooted, so it holds a very special place in our hearts. We would certainly love to have you experience the beauty of the Bluegrass in the midst of such a wonderful celebration!

How They Met

January 2013

There are many great memories both Josh and Kelly have from their time in college at the Univeristy of Kentucky, but there is one memory in particular that each hold dear in their hearts. Like all great love stories start- it was a greek fraternity social gathering that first brought these two together. It was at this social gathering that Josh caught a glimpse of “the most beautiful green eyes he has ever seen.” Yes you guessed it- those were quite literally the first words Josh spoke to Kelly. They laugh about his cheesy pick up line to this day- but hey it worked, didnt it? That very same night, Josh so confidently told Austin Edelen, now a groomsmen in his wedding, that he was going to “marry that girl.”

The Proposal

May 24th, 2019

As you could imagine- after almost six years of dating the most popular question and topic of conversation with close friends and family, inevitably became “when is Josh going to propose to Kelly?” Fast forward to Memorial Day Weekend of this year, Josh and Kelly met up with a group eleven close friends for a fun weekend at Lake Cucumberland. Little did Kelly or anyone, for that matter, know that Josh had bigger plans for this lake getaway. It was right around dusk that the group had settled around a fire to wind down the first night of the trip. Before Kelly knew it, Josh had already pulled her away from the group and convinced her to join him down at the dock to oh-so casually “drink champagne.” She thought his suggestion was a little odd- but must have been blinded by this romantic gesture to raise any suspicion about doing anything other than “drink champagne at the dock.” Once the two made their way down to the dock, Kelly was clearly not aware of what Josh was scheming and very quick ran to plop her feet right in the water. Josh, a little taken back by her eagerness to get into the water, hung behind and so graciously expressed that he needed Kelly to “stand up for this one.” Cluelessly Kelly got up and turned around - you guessed it.... to Josh down on one knee ready to ask the easiest question she could answer. SHE SAID YES! As Josh originally suggested- they did indeed drink the champagne!
