Flight
Located 1.5 hours away from the resort, the airport in Liberia, Costa Rica is the closest airport.
Travel Note
We are working with a local transportation company to get our guests the best and easiest commute to/from Liberia International Airport and Dreams Las Mareas. This transportation will be private to our wedding guests only; no other resort guests. Upon leaving the airport, they will be taking you through the town of Liberia for a small tour and an optional stop if you would like a local beverage. The price per person can fluctuate based on how many people there are in the vehicle. It can range from $10-$50/person one-way. Most likely it’ll be around the $20/person price-point. We will book the shuttles according to everyone’s arrival/departure schedules. If you would like to book this form of transportation, please reach out to Brianna/Colton. *If you would like to ensure that you and your travel companions are the only ones in the vehicle (i.e. no other wedding guests are grouped with you), please let us know that as well.*
Rental Car
We know that renting a car in a foreign country can be a bit frustrating. Prices change, you might not find the car you want or it just seems so expensive and all you want to do is to rent a car so you can explore on your own. In addition to the step-by-step guide in the link below, we shared our own experience with renting a car in Costa Rica in Part 2. Use the link below (View) and follow the MyTanFeet's Blog instructions. Be sure to use Google Chrome as your browser; Safari did not work for us. MyTanFeet offers its users 20% discount on car rental through Adobe Rent a Car. If you have additional questions about renting a car in Costa Rica call/text Colton at (612) 308 5173.
Rental Car
In January, we decided to rent a car rather than take organized transportation to Dreams Las Mareas. We used the MyTanFeet's blog (in Part 1) to book the vehicle. The video in the link below will walk you through the process at the airport. Once we found the Adobe Rent a Car shuttle, it took us to their office about 15 min away. Their check-in and inspection process was thorough, giving us a sense of security. They also will give you a hard map at check-in. Though, we recommend you buy an international data plan with your cellphone provider and use your GPS (Google Maps, not Apple Maps) to get through Liberia. However, after you get through Liberia, a GPS is not accurate. At that point, you start following blue street signs for Dreams Las Mareas instead. (If you hit the Nicaraguan border, you went too far). The roads were actually quite smooth and it took us about 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you want the unique experience of driving in a foreign county, we highly recommend renting!
Flight
For our guests looking to experience the country and have extra adventures, you'll most likely want to fly into/out of the airport in Costa Rica's capitol city San Jose. Generally, it is cheaper to fly into San Jose than Liberia. But please note that this airport is about a 4.5 hour drive to Dreams Las Mareas.
