For Sara - the love story set up starts a few years prior. It was Christmas night in Bedford, NH - and as is tradition Sara was in the Single Ladies bedroom in her "whelping box". Sara's cousins Meghan and Laura were in their respective beds and the annual girls Pillow Talk session was in full gear. This year Cousin Laura was confiding in both of the girls that she had just met a wonderful man (her soon to be fantastic husband Ross) and trying to convince the weary other single ladies that this new dating app Hinge was worth the download. After much convincing - Sara allowed Laura to download Hinge on to her phone. Although it took Sara a little while before she found Mike's profile - the spark had been ignited. Mike on the other hand moved to Boston to start a new job and after settling in to his new city decided to download Hinge a few months later upon the advice of some friends. Shortly thereafter he stumbled upon the profile of a local veterinarian who wholly enjoyed IPA's and thought he found his match.
Then one fateful day in February 2018 - Sara was perusing Hinge and came across Mike's profile. It was his bucket list item of seeing some lions on a safari that led her to like his profile, but his wit, humor and love of beer that hooked her. Mike found it quite presumptuous when Sara made a dinner reservation for their first date that he was intending to be just drinks. A novice to Boston, Mike wasn't aware that a first date on the eve of St. Patty's day in South Boston was not a casual affair. After 3 hours of titillating conversation (causing Sara to forget she had arrived to the date with a full bladder), good beer and a very runny Guinness Shepherds pie - Sara sprinted home to her bathroom and Mike found her departure quite abrupt. Luckily that didn't deter either of them and while Sara was away in Vermont with her Williams Crew - Mike planned a fun-filled second date of bowling, burgers and big buck hunter (a quick path to Sara's heart). Another rocky moment the couple survived was when Sara's burger came out well done due to Mike's burger order (due to confusion that crisping meat prevents Mad Cow's Disease). But the coming weeks led to many more dates filled with long conversations, delicious IPAs and the rest is history. Over time the couple lost track of the number of dates (conveniently by Mike as date 25 was promised to be in Italy) - as their love flourished and they found comfort that they had found THE ONE.
In preparation for the big day - Mike sneakily called Dr. Buckley to ask for a meeting. Blinded by his love of golf Dr. Buckley initially had a very full schedule that luckily quickly became wide open picking up on Mike's subtle context clues. The following week Mike secretly ventured out to Swampscott to ask Dr. and Mrs. Buckley for Sara's hand - which they exuberantly accepted and welcomed him with open arms. Mike and Sara then traveled down to Pennsylvania (Mike anxiously hiding the ring) to celebrate Melissa and Andy's wedding followed by visits with friends and finally the second annual Buckley Family Woodloch vacation. On the second day of the trip, Mike brought the ring with him to dinner hoping to find the right moment. Sara (naturally) ruined the surprise by tapping his pocket and feeling the ring box (Mike claimed it was his wallet). Following dinner Sara and Mike were finally able to get a moment alone by the lake and Mike got down on one knee and asked to spend the rest of his life with Sara. After many excited tears (and a heatedly debated barely audible yes) she put on her ring. Down by the lake Sara and Mike face-timed with his family then rushed back to the house to share the news with the Buckley clan. After accidentally being locked out (due to a faulty key) the whole house was awoken to share in the excitement and a glass of bubbly was raised to the happy couple.
We couldn't be more excited to share our special day with all of you. In the words of two of Sara's dear friends wedding vows - we couldn't be happier that after this day instead of being Mike's or Sara's you'll just be OUR people.
We are so incredibly excited to finally be able to share our big day with the ones we love. For the safety and enjoyment of all, we request that all guests follow the cdc guidelines and be fully vaccinated for covid 19, if appropriate.
