Brynn's version: We met back in the summer of 2021 at a Young Life camp called Washington Family Ranch in Antelope, Oregon (look it up, it has some fun history). Jacob was the sound intern and I was the housekeeping intern. We didn't talk much in the first month of being there, but quickly became close after Jacob helped plan my surprise karaoke birthday party. Shortly after the party, I left camp to take my Young Life girls to a different camp in Colorado. I had a long drive from Oregon to Colorado, so Jacob volunteered to make me a playlist to keep me occupied during the drive. That's when I started to get the hint that he maybe liked me. When I got back to camp, we started to talk a lot and hang out one on one. We would always find excuses during work to bump into each other (ex: I would always volunteer to go and clean the club room where Jacob would be working). We went on our first date on August 13th, 2021 to a Mexican restaurant in the nearest city which was 2 hours away! After summer ended, we decided to see how things would go long distance. Jacob went back to Gainesville, Florida and I went back to Salt Lake City, Utah. Our feelings for each other stayed despite the distance and Jacob officially asked me to be his girlfriend on September 19th, 2021 after a group of us took a trip back to Oregon. We dated long distance for 2 years, taking turns visiting Gainesville and Salt Lake, until I finally made the move to Gainesville in September of 2023. Jacob proposed in May of 2024 and now we get to spend forever together!!! I believe our story is truly a reflection of how the Lord moves in ways we could never expect or imagine!! It was such a gift for Him to put us in the middle-of-nowhere Oregon together. Jacob's Version: Brynn and I met at a YoungLife camp called Washington Family Ranch near Antelope, Oregon, in the summer of 2021. Brynn was the very first person I met when I got to camp. She had her hair in this little "sprout" on top of her head, and I thought it was just the cutest. I remember being instantly curious about her. As the summer progressed, we both subtly tried to make time to see each other, without making it too obvious of course. I was a sound tech intern, and she was a housekeeping intern. When her birthday rolled around, her friends asked me if I would be willing to help throw a surprise karaoke birthday party for her in the camp's club room. That party was a huge success, and she loved every moment. At the end of the night, a group of us were standing around chatting and she told us that she was driving 12 hours to take a group of high school girls to camp in Colorado the next day. I told her I would make her a playlist for her drive so she wouldn't get too bored. When it was time to go to bed, she gave everyone a hug goodbye. This is the part of the story where we disagree, but this hug changed everything. When it was my turn for a hug, I swear that she lingered. She claims she didn't, but, although I can't explain it, I felt something different in that hug. Because we were both employees of the camp, we weren't allowed to date each other. So we would go star gazing late at night after I had finished work to get to know each other. We started dating officially a month after we had left camp and dated long-distance for two full years until we both had finished college. We would fly back and forth to see each other almost once a month during that time. Brynn agreed to move to Gainesville without a job or a house, but the Lord provided both. It was so courageous of her! After about nine months of both living in Gainesville, I proposed to her on May 4th, 2024. Thankfully, she said yes! I am convinced that Brynn is a gift. We balance each other out so beautifully, and I am so grateful for her!
