FAQ

Question

Where and when is the wedding?

Answer

Our wedding will take place at Farm Kitchen in Poulsbo, Washington on May 30, 2026. Guests may begin arriving at 3:15pm. Please arrive by 3:45pm so that the ceremony can begin at 4:00pm.

Question

When are the shuttles picking up hotel guests?

Answer

Shuttles will depart from Poulsbo Inn & Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites Poulsbo at 3:00pm. A second shuttle will collect any remaining passengers from the Fairfield at 3:15pm if the first bus reaches capacity. Return shuttles will depart from the wedding venue at 9:30pm and 10:00pm to drop off guests at both hotels.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Spring formal! We'd love to see you dressed colorfully and comfortably. Dresses of all lengths and suits of all styles are welcomed. Neither of us are the bride, so you can even wear white if you'd like! Many surfaces at Farm Kitchen are soft and grassy, so you may want to leave the high heels at home.

Question

What's the best driving route to the wedding venue?

Answer

We always prefer taking the ferry across Puget Sound for any occasion, and our venue is conveniently located a short drive from the Bainbridge Island and Kingston ferry terminals. Please be advised that car queues for ferries leaving Seattle and Edmonds can be highly unpredictable on weekends, therefore we strongly recommend arriving at your preferred ferry terminal no later than three hours before our ceremony begins. There is also an alternative driving route which avoids the ferries entirely via I-5, SR 16, and SR 3. Expect this trip to take up to two hours from Seattle.

Question

This is my first time using a ferry. How does it work?

Answer

GPS directions to Farm Kitchen will most likely include one of two ferry crossings along the way: Seattle-to-Bainbridge Island or Edmonds-to-Kingston. Sailing schedules are available on WSDOT's website for both of these routes. Vehicle reservations are not accepted for these routes, fares are only paid on-site at the ticketing booths. Cars are then loaded onto the ferry on a first-come, first-served basis. If the ferry's vehicle holding area reaches capacity before you board, you'll remain in the queue until the next ferry arrives 30-45 minutes later. Once you've boarded the ferry, you're free to leave your car and take in the views from the passenger deck! We strongly urge that anyone driving onto the ferry on our wedding day plan to arrive at the terminal three hours before our ceremony begins. Walk-on passengers can board the ferry immediately after arriving at the terminal without delay, but please make sure you know how you'll reach the wedding venue after departing the ferry. If these directions are frightening, remember that you can still opt out of using the ferries by driving the two-hour route via I-5, SR 16, and SR 3.

Question

Can I get there without a car?

Answer

Absolutely! We recommend that transit riders plan the following trip for Friday, May 29, 2026: From SeaTac Airport, load money onto an ORCA Card and take the Link Light Rail northbound towards Downtown Seattle. Exit the train at the Pioneer Square or Symphony station. Walk across the Marion Street pedestrian bridge towards Colman Dock and board the next ferry to Bainbridge Island. After disembarking the ferry, ride the Kitsap Transit 390 bus to the stop at NE Hostmark Street, which is a short walk to Poulsbo Inn & Suites. Hotel guests will have access to transportation shuttles to and from our wedding at Farm Kitchen on May 30, 2026.

Question

What if I’m taking transit on the wedding day?

Answer

You can follow all of the same directions mentioned above, but you'll have a lot less flexibility in your schedule and, unless you intend to reserve a hotel room for just one night, you won't have access to our shuttle to the venue. Keep in mind that there aren't any direct transit routes to our wedding venue. If you have opted for transit on our wedding day and don't intend on reserving a hotel room for the night, you’ll need to coordinate a ride with someone who can drive you to Farm Kitchen from the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal or Downtown Poulsbo.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to capacity limits at our wedding venue, we are unable to grant a plus one for every guest. The name(s) written on your invitation will designate who from your household we are able to accommodate. We kindly request that you do not bring someone to our wedding who has not been formally mentioned on your invitation.

Question

What weather can I expect?

Answer

We don't know now, and we may still hardly have an answer for you in the days leading up to the wedding. Spring in the Pacific Northwest is full of uncertainty and that's why we love it here so much. We've experienced rain, fog, sunshine, heat waves, windstorms, and several combinations of these conditions within the same week before. Rest assured, we will share any relevant weather forecasts on our website as the wedding date gets closer.

Question

Will I get cold though?

Answer

Maybe. Those traveling from Florida should probably pack an extra layer. The ceremony will be outdoors and therefore the most exposed to whatever elements are present. Cocktail hour will take place in a well-shaded area. The reception dinner will occur under a covered pavilion with space heaters if needed, and dancing will be indoors. Sunsets in late May aren't until 8:50 pm. Our best advice is to arrive prepared for anything but to at least plan for a chilly evening. Rain or shine, we are getting married!
