In February of 2016, David was tutoring in the Math Resource Center (MRC) at Johnson County Community College, and Emily was struggling in College Algebra. On a professor's recommendation, she popped into the MRC. As the semester drew on, David and Emily kindled a respectful and distant friendship with an unspoken desire for more. It would be six months before they finally got their shot--and when they did get it, they never let it go. Two years later, they adopted a black cat named April, and in April of 2020, they adopted a puppy named Hank. Their journey is one of love, support, resilience, honesty, laughter, and inside jokes.

Nobody knows what June is going to look like, but we are predicting safe waters ahead! There is a chance we will have to make some tough choices, as so many couples have had to do, but we know that through everything, Dave and I are stronger together, and we have your support. Thank you for being patient with us through it all.
